This could be it for Bernie

Recommended Posts

Bernie was hospitalized for an emergency procedure to put two stints into an artery overnight. This could happen to someone much younger as well and a full recovery is likely but it does remind people of his age, and perhaps the ages of the other septuagenarians who are leading or in office. Warren has the advantage of looking much more youthful and energetic than her age. Trump could never need this sort of surgery since he does not have a heart.

Cut them some slack.

In a week of bad news, false allegations against Joe Biden and Bernie’s coronary disease and health problems are the only things Trumpholes have to cheer about.

If only RBG would suffer a pulmonary embolism and die, then they could be truly happy.

I really like Bernie (disclaimer have never met him in person) but he's too old, stented or not.

The Baby Boomers need to get out of the way and let younger people take over

Same. I voted for Bernie in the 2016 primary and I remain a fan. But this was one of the reasons I didn't want him to run again this year. He's a good man though.

What is that false allegation about Joe?

We had the sad explanation of why he didn't run in 2016 but the reality was that the Ukrainain connections were already known and too close in time.  You think anybody might have mentioned them before the primaries or would they have waited until he entered them?

Not that Primaries matter much to the dems except to set the stage for the general election.

No. Americans generally don't vote for people who say they will raise taxes significantly and create new reasons to spend more (healthcare for all anyone?) during a campaign. The spend, spend, spend part is part of the Washington culture for many years. That is a different issue which needs to be addressed.

Yes, that is a different issue which needs to be addressed, just not right now and most definitely not during 2017-8.

FIFY

Long standing issue, sort of glad to see that the boneheaded inflexibility of decades past, the same thing that got you Bubba Clinton instead of a 2nd George Bush term, is alive and kicking (and screaming).

Of course she's a goddam Socialist, that's because she actually cares about non-1%ers and has done a lot of actual work to make things better for them. The Consumer Credit Protection Bureau is 99% a Liz Warren creation and of course it was gutted by Republicans because imagine the nerve of a gov't agency requiring credit lenders to actually be honest. Fuckers! And the guy who truly hamstrung the credit card police is now Trump's right-hand man.

It's a shame you can't go live in a country with the gov't you want and deserve instead of having to drag the rest of us down with you.

Tapper (CNN) called one of the whistleblowers lawyers and asked if Schiff had helped write the complaint, Absolutely Not.  Trump just makes shit up and his dumbshit followers eat it up.  He also called Biden and his son crooked, again, with nothing to support that comment.

Trump is off the rails.  Great strategy if your goal is to get 30% of the vote in November.

The Dems are not going to run a candidate as unpopular as Hillary and Trump has shown his colors.  He should be worried.

The article you cite did not make the same assumptions you did. Let me help your reading and comprehension skills. Quotes are from the NYT article above.

The article first notes that the whistleblower went to the CIA's top lawyer (Courtney Elwood) with his concerns, and was worried that the subsequent investigation included John Eisenberg, a deputy White House legal counsel and legal advisor to the National Security Adviser. Furthermore, records of the conversation were now out of reach, locked up on a secure server.

Was he going to be identified and his complaint not heard? Why did his complaint go straight to the White House?

Concerned that the CIA officer was getting run over, the whistleblower went to the lawmakers in charge of Intelligence oversight, Adam Schiff's office.

"The House staff member, following the committee’s procedures, suggested the officer find a lawyer to advise him and file a whistle-blower complaint. The aide shared some of what the officer conveyed to Mr. Schiff. The aide did not share the whistle-blower’s identity with Mr. Schiff, an official said."

"The complaint was filed in consultation with a lawyer, officials said. “The intelligence community whistle-blower followed the advice of legal counsel from the beginning,” said Andrew Bakaj, the lead counsel for the whistle-blower. “The laws and processes have been followed.”

So, Joker. You are once again making baseless accusations. This is, what, the 6th time I've caught you at it?

"Following committee procedures" is hardly reason to call for Adam Schiff's resignation.

These are challenging, even scary times. Don't ruin your already tarnished reputation by continuing to make unfounded accusations. It's not helping anything or anyone, least of all yourself.

He wasn’t a whistle blower until he actually filed the complaint

You know you hit a nerve with how quickly the faithful react to spin  a story away from the basic truth.  Schiff was given an outline of a planned complaint against the president of the United States before it was officially filed.

I guess following procedure only matters sometimes.

Following procedure...like intercepting a report which by law should go to Congress but is instead derailed by the White House? That kind of following?

Seems to me that Joker said "IF" the allegations were proven to be true, that he thinks Schiff should resign.   A bit different than calling for someone's impeachment before they'd even been sworn in, or calling for someone to be removed before any proof had been established.   Of course, it's you, you've demonstrated that truth and accuracy don't matter at all to you, as long as you can twist what someone says into a personal attack.

To Joker's post - I don't think that even if Schiff's committee got advance notice of the coming complaint, or helped to shape it, that it's cause for him to be removed from office.

Firstly, you are correct when you write: “He wasn’t a whistle blower until he actually filed the complaint.”

Please note, that’s exactly what the article you quoted says Schiff’s official said he should do when they met.  That’s whats called “following procedure.”

You are also correct when you say: “You know you hit a nerve with how quickly the faithful react to spin  a story away from the basic truth.”

Because you’ve got to admit that’s EXACTLY what you did!

Thanks for playing, my obliviously self describing friend! Your pattern of unsubstantiated accusations is +1

So, are we correct in assuming the article you cited above contained NOTHING to indicate there exists even a shred of evidence that Rep. Schiff's "staff wrote the complaint"?

That is an allegation President Trump threw out there, with no evidence.  That makes his statement a lie.

It is an allegation you dutifully repeated, without evidence.  That makes you a liar, as well.  Go ahead and try and weasel out by saying "I said IF..."

I wonder how you'd view an allegation like "If it turns out that The Joker truly does like fucking farm animals, he should be fired from his job."

Didn't the whitehouse released transcript match the Whistle blowers complaint almost item for item?

It is NEVER about the fact he did it, whatever "it" is, it is always about "They cheated when they caught me"

Also note the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is *exactly the right person* to go to if you want to ask about whistle blower complaints involving classified matters. This is not all that unusual.

Prove what? That if two things happen in a similar time space they are not necessarily connected?

You are a stupid man.

If they are coincident then they sure as hell are connected. When the speeding bullet and the brain are coincident it causes what the French call dommage. At this point, you might want to go back to your statement, stare at it:

Coincidence is not causality...

and figure out where your mistake was because it's screaming out loud.

My taxes are going up from the state, county, city and now the Federal Government. Sorry but I may be a cranky old man but the less government services I use, the more I seem to pay every year. If you want your tax bill to go through the roof go to Sweden or Canada, just don't elect someone who wants to take more of my money in the US.

Indeed!

I think that despite his very good support (financial) this quarter, he's still been ignored by the press.  And, now this, plus his age...... He should probably step out, and remain a vibrant, and fierce independent Senator.

I'd be surprised if he dropped out.  Reports last night about the severity of this to his health say it's really nothing.  He'll be out in a couple of days.  Clinton had a much more serious procedure of the same kind and he was out in four days.  Bernie is the Energizer Bunny.

Stents are pretty easy to recover from so long as you don't do any damage early after the procedure.  He should be back to normal in a couple of days.

Also a good point..

However the anti-tax blowhard dumbasses always posture that they don't use gov't services but they don't even grasp what the government actually does.

Here's the answer, RR. Don't wanna pay taxes? Fine. There are in fact places in the world with no gov't. Move there.

In Sweden or Canada, you can actually survive a heart attack without going bankrupt, so there's that.

unless you inherit wealth and are taxed upon it there will be a portion of your life where you are consuming services/benefits and paying little in taxes. later in life, especially older prime earning years, you will be paying more than you consume. before death you will likely contribute little actively and consume more than your produce. there's really no way around this; it mirrors the arc of the human life.

You're wasting your time - the right wingers can't even comprehend the fundamental concept of insurance FFS and you expect them to grasp the concepts of varying ages of contributions and drawdown of services?

Like this?

"You get a tax cut this year of $200."

Followed by the economists estimating the wealthiest will get tax breaks in the millions causing the US deficit to skyrocket.

"Whoopeee!  I get a $200 tax cut!  What a great plan!"

Exactly like that.

Except they also think the wealthiest earned theirs as well.

Yes, but thanks to Trump, he can dictate the response, lie about the test, or get his doctor to lie to the press, Ez Peasy.

Sorry to say it but if Liz is the candidate for the Dems I am afraid some people will hold their noses and vote for Trump again. She wants to double our tax rates and spend, spend, spend.

As opposed to half our tax rates and spend, spend, spend.

Good for you, or good for the country?   A decision a true American patriot would not need to sleep on.
