New outremer model coming

Recommended Posts

It seems that the moved they bridgehouse forward and made it bigger, kind of like Outremer or Seawind 1600. Gone are the typical extra long trampoline nets of outremer.

I hope that will bring down the price's on the used market a little bit.

Wow, didn't catch those pics! :)

But maybe the mast is on the roof, so still kept aft.

And I hope they also kept the vertical front facing "windows", and didn't go for "more speedy looking" slanted ones.

More saloon volume would make me interested in an Outremer - I like everything about them except the lack of living space and the tiny galley - I don’t want a lagoon by any stretch, but for a modern boat they are small.

New instagram post from Outremer :
https://www.instagram.com/p/B7bVVYkggyh/

On the last pic of this post, there is a pic on the screen, looks a bit strange to me, not sure why they raise the solar pv that much on the davits, to avoid the shade from the bimini probably, but the result looks quite "bizzy".

Also it looks like the helm(wheel) will be able to pivot.

Call it TC5 (très compliqué) and see how it stacks up against TS5...

I think this one will be around 52 feet an roomier, bigger living area, more suited for people that like comfort. A direct competitor to the Seawind 1600 imo.

The pivoting helm on the Balance 526 is brilliant — and looks very simple and light. If Outremer can implement a pivoting helm as well as Phil Berman has it’ll be awesome.

There is nothing innovative about a pivoting helm. HH used it to good effect before Balance, Alibi before them.

Looks to me that the balance point is a bit more on the "comfort/cruising" side than the 51 (mainsail 104 m2 for the 55, 91 for the 51, displacement 10.9 for the 51 , 13.5 for the 55).

Interesting self tacking rail on the roof, tiller dropped (makes sense with these benches)

I'm not a big fan of the very centered nav station

And for sure much more comfort oriented than the TS5.

The "Bali" of outremer?

Not really, just a tad more on the comfort side than the 51 or 5x I would say

The lines that we see below the "winches block" are the solent/genoa sheets ?

That's a quite complicated "route", they go through 3 blocks ?

And I wonder what will be the arrangement for the spinnakers/code 0 sheets, they will go to the same winches ?

I have friend that owns a Outremer 51. He sailed it in the 2017/2018 World ARC. I totally fell in love with the boat. With it's ease of handling, layout and  construction. I joined he and his family in several passages around the globe.

The two things I would change are, a larger solar panel array and a solar powered vent fan over the heads.

He has a Hydrowatt generator and solar panels wasn't enough to keep the batteries up for navigation and autopilot.

The solar powered vent for the Head is self explanatory.
