I crewed that in Sydney many moons back under previous ownership.  Great little boat, goes upwind like a 40 footer owing to the water ballast.  Would be great to ditch the runners and install a carbon rig.  Really nice little offshore racer cum Super 30

a very petite keel profile

How nasty is a carbon rig pricing? Half the boats $50k list price?

Haven't seen either for more than 10 years, I think I heard they went O/S. Along similar lines, my son will be doing his first Hobart this year. He was just 1 when I started fooling around on here

Yeah, I think it would be 10 years since I heard from/of them also.

Good luck to Jack - I had wondered if he was >18.

He turns 20 on Xmas Day. Loves offshore sailing and has lucked in to a good program with good people, no cowboys.

Looks like the M30 is about 1m shorter. I guess a fat head main could give back the sail area lost if needed

Go for a Melges 32 spare rig then, later ones are a 2-part spar so easy to ship.

Oh dear.

It appears as though the BUTT HURT is still bad.

Ease up on the whining and sharpen up your game, your making this too easy.

You are going to have to extend your search,  re poster identification a little further than the greater Brisbane phone directory if

you are going to crack this one.

If you like I'll drop in and say g'day when we get up your way. Don't wait up though, as these Northerlies are slowing progress a little.

You are coming to Queensland? I didn't know you even had a passport. But lets play along anyway. Where are you going to moor this imaginary boat when you get here? There are several friendly clubs i can recommend, but the one with the boat vandals and the 1000 hairdressers would probably be best for you.  You will need a reefer jacket, a lot of money and some fighting lessons.

I think a $1 is a $1 too much.  Maybe a bit of a grammer check on the ad would help

Well, that’s still comfortably under $80,000 then, isn’t it?

On the old djuice we had a vacuum head. The lid would seal, the system would pressurise as you pumped and all the bad shit got literally blown out of the boat. It’s not the much desired electric head, but it’d be $10k worth of value right there!

If that's the case, then the sellers will be happy $-)

Maybe that is why they decided to do the auction now.

Anyone remember the old advertised price? I vaguely recall it was well under $80k, maybe $50k? It was posted in my defunct $80k thread..

On eBay it's only at $10,300, but that should change on Dec 3 at 18:00 AEDST

Both, but it will be a gradual process.  Crew of good mates with a lot of Hobart races between them doing a relatively last minute Hobart campaign this year, some IRC tickling involved.  Pre-Hobart program is said to revolve around Twilights and beer, qualification sail is done.  More optimisation thinking to happen post-Hobart.  General view is that there's plenty of upside in the old girl.  The hull is rock solid, and it's pretty vice free to sail.  Rigging glitches being sorted out as I write.  Needs a lower rating, work to be done on that.  Plenty of work still to do on polars, sail combos and related thinking.  Owner's brother is a sailmaker, that always helps.

Out of curiosity what sort of money do you need to spend to keep a boat in Sydney on a mooring? In Melbourne you pretty much have to keep your boat in a marina.

I asked the marina price at MHYC for a laugh when I stayed a couple of nights there and they said $20k. I think i paid about $1k per month in pittwater per month on a mooring for a few months over summer, but did not find out the annual rate, but I guess it would have been 6-7k

Pretty good value really. About 13K per year for a 41footer. At the QLD club i used to be a member of, it was About $9500 per year but once you add on the membership fees, boxing lessons, Yoga mat and the cost of a QC if you want to question any of their rules it makes the Catholic Youth Club look pretty reasonable.

The CYCA seems to be quite reasonably priced. Even the membership is not too bad. I guess the catch comes with the marina wait time.
