Livia 647 #402 Posted August 20, 2020 yep. Funny the descriptions in the ads seems to be for same boat. From the ad above! This racing yacht was the most successful of this design built and raced very successfully in the UK before being imported. It has the stiffer lighter carbon mast which helps it achieve a very high STIX stability index of 46, far in excess of the Hobart requirements. The Ker 11.3 has a very clever cassette system for the keel, which makes it secure yet easily removed, and this yacht is available with both a keel-off and keel-on cradles. The rig was taken out in 2016 for dye-test and overhaul, including re-paint, and the hull and deck were two-pack painted when it arrived in 2011. A new Yanmar was fitted in 2016 and has only 150 hours on it, and the yacht has a full B&G Hercules 2000 system, HF radio and tiller pilot, and Cat' 3-4 safety. Rig tune is achieved with a hydraulic mast-jack and it sports a full suit of Carbon sails, though none very recent. This is a high performance yacht and one of five Ker 11.3's in Australia, between them they have recently won IRC 1 in last years Brisbane-Gladstone, and twice won their division in the Hobart Race. At this price is offers a phenomenally cost effective yacht to do the Hobart, possibly even 2-handed, yet can simply be enjoyed as a club or twilight racer. From the other ad. Being run by a team of pros I would imagine it would take some seriously trained marine technicians to maintain this boat's instrument systems! Also equipped with a $60,000 Quadrans fully strap-down Fiber-Optic Gyrocompass (FOG) and attitude reference system. I would buy this boat just on it's instrument system! Actually, the FaRo system is brilliantly simple. Unlike proprietary systems like B&G, most any controls engineer can dive into it and see what’s going wrong. I’m sure the original code is impressive and not for the weak of heart, but using industrial systems makes it easy to troubleshoot. If you walked the dock at my little club, I know of at least three people (myself included) that could help out. Any B&G processor would be packed up and mailed. Bloody fantastic buying at that price too. Trucks upwind in breeze & deadly off the breeze. Very easy boat to sail, you can get off after a day on the water & feel like you just had a massage whereas on other boats you feel like you where rolled down a hill in a tractor tyre. 2022 Solo Trans Tasman weapon! Maybe people can't travel but boats are still being sold and then delivered all around Australia by delivery skippers who fall under the broad description of "transport" operatives; transport being an essential service. Granted its a big leap of faith to buy a boat sight unseen but with video walk throughs , facetime etc it is still happening as busy brokers all across Aus will confirm. Vic boats can leave by sea while boats from other states can leave by sea or on a truck. With smaller boats, Lofty from Keels on Wheels has never been busier. Jono 39 #467 Posted October 12, 2020 Maybe just the bulb is off. The Melges 40s are starting to appear in Auckland. Incoming Commodore of RNZYS has his sailing, past M38 - Menace owner has one along with a couple of others.
The Dark Knight 678 #468 Posted October 12, 2020 As someone who was following the Alcatraz thread, it's disappoint to see that she is for sale so soon after finishing. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/listing/2817299567?bof=kb6g2dqy

Is it a coincidence that you have several arriving or did a group of owners get together to decide on a new local fleet.

BooBoo 55 #478 Posted October 21, 2020 I just brought the Ross 1066 Margaritaville. More of a cruiser racer which appealed to the wife a lot more than the motorboat and the shallow draft (2.25m) means that we can keep it on our mooring up the weiti river outside the house. She's a nice boat. Built in 2003 by craig partridge in foam and glass with plenty of carbon bits, composite stanchions, carbon rig and boom.. Slightly different design to the earlier Ross 1066 but seems bloody quick in the first 2 rum races I have done. Beautiful interior with everything we need to take the family cruising for a few weeks. Anchor winch (easily removable), pressure water, fridge/freezer, table.... and bean bags... For this summer she's solely a cruising boat with the occasional fun Race but I will slowly ramp up the racing next winter for the shorthanded stuff. I pretty much burnt that bridge with the wife on the last motorboat campaign so got to ease into this one..... Anyway, pretty happy with this one (other than the green deck).

Jono 39 #482 Posted November 5, 2020 IMX40 Nips came up. Nice al rounder in it's day. Would need a big birthday though. What was the reason for being parked up so long?

What was the reason for being parked up so long? Owner otherwise engaged as I understand it, sorta lost the passion for racing plus was busy doing plastic surgery in Thailand. Has had minimal use over the last 10+ years so at one level a good buy.

TUBBY 296 #486 Posted November 6, 2020 Given that one of his earlier boats was Smooth Operator, there might be a hint there.
The Dark Knight 678 #487 Posted November 20, 2020 Another NS369 has been listed I really wonder what were they thinking when the original owner ordered it. It has a shallow draft 2.1m keel (v 2.48m) windlass, hot water. Given that the NS370 is the same hull, what were they thinking https://yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/northshore-369/254412
