phillysailor 2,375 #8 Posted November 20, 2019 Not until the GOP feels it must represent all Americans be they LGTBQ, single black moms, union workers from Detroit, veterans with PTSD, state department drones, school teachers, small family farmers will it have a candidate fit to be POTUS. The Republican leadership hide behind false claims of piety, guns and patriotism and use the language of white supremacists and holier than thou priests to do the bidding of rich men and companies. I have no doubt these same groups hold sway over any number of Democratic leaders, but currently the GOP has fallen to the hucksters and rent-seeking profiteers. Vote the bums out, make gerrymandering illegal, shore up our voting rights & election laws and return to bipartisan traditions which have kept the national debate honorable and substantive. If things get out of hand and Democrats rule both houses of Congress and the Presidency, their monopoly of power will corrupt. America needs an adversarial party that is honorable and worthy, capable of responsible governance.
