This is Wing Surfing

Recommended Posts

- "This is Wing Surfing". The tittle of this clip says it all. The rider is Philippe Caneri with a Horue foilboard and a Duotone wingfoil.

Looks like the Lord Board finally came of age. I wonder what Lindsay Lord would think of it

It is for youngsters. I like the show, the agility and the mobility.

We have the same interest, I play as a Guitarist in a free improvisation Jazz band.
Reproduce-able free Jazz, like Pat Metheny, Miles Davis, only not that good.
Still fun.

See you.

This is one fad I think will fade. I saw a few in the Columbia River Gorge this summer, amoung all the foiling kitesurfers and windsurfers, and there are a few here in Cape Town this southern summer on the less windy and wavy days, but I really don't see the point. A kite is so much more powerful and versatile, while for pure speed a foiling windsurfer is hard to beat.

Am I the only one who thinks its mad that he's doing that in such close proximity to conventional surfers? We've all heard of the kind of injuries foils can case if hitting someone in the water. Here he is, coming in much faster than other surfers, from directions they wouldn't be expecting people to be coming from. Got to be a serious accident sooner or later.

I don't  get this one, then again I don't get SUPing either...

Windsurfing the gorge requires your head to be on a swivel nowadays!

Too many damn toys ripping around: other windsurfers, foil windsurfers, kiters, kite foilers, wing surfers, SUP, SUP foilers, motorized foil boards, sailboats and barges. All the foilers are silent and are often going straight down wind

Footstraps, higher aspect ratio forward raked foil.

I like those little wings, simple and way less danger and hassle than a kite.

Not sure how he can jump clear and then reattach, think that's always a crash.

At least maybe it’s less likely to get tangled in someone else’s rigging? I did have to dodge one of those guys, who was down in the water, this summer.  Curious to see how he was going to re-launch, but too busy dodging all the other yahoos to watch.

A couple of the foil guys have rigged deer whistles in their kites, so you can hear them coming.  That seems considerate. But if everyone did it, I suppose it would just be a noisy mess.
