Too Much Regulation !!

Recommended Posts

American voters often fall for the wealthy and corporatist claim that

there is "too much regulation" of just about anything from mega-banks,

to air and water quality, to auto standards, to . . .

dams

And the result is predictable: MAGA guy and (part, at least) owner of

the failed dams in Michigan, A Mr. Lee Mueller could ignore regulations

with the best of them.

The result of electing leaders of this persuasion is entirely predictable . .

catastrophe.

If it's a privately owned dam, I trust that the owner is liable?

Let me guess, dam failures are "unheard of"?

The dam owner is saying that the state threatened them with a lawsuit if they did not get water levels back up to normal.

Naturally, the state is denying that. The same state that declared the dam safe (contrary to what FERC said in 2018), is now saying they have no responsibility.

100 year old dam in violation at least going back to 1999 with many owners who were allowed to put off repairs and spillway updates

And they were sued to keep the water levels high to appease lake front property owners

Shirley you jest - there is that LLC limited liability trick,

and that bogus insurance, and the Right-Wing "rule of law" judiciary

That Reichista will walk.

Hope that I am wrong.

(And yes, I called you "Shirley")
