The man who died at Dillon Yacht Club’s Peak 1 Regatta has been identified as 66-year-old Paul Kresge (above) of Dillon, CO according to the Summit County Coroner’s Office. The event was held June 13-14 on Dillon Reservoir in Dillon, CO.

At about 2:30 pm on June 13, the Summit Daily reports how a strong storm cell blew in from the southwest, producing winds upwards of 40 mph along with 4-foot waves, according to a release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Indeed. It certainly cancelled my plans to sail a dingy on that lake this summer.  Think I'll stay on shore.

Friend and Pillar of the sailing community here.  Ex Commodore, Judge, Stellar Star Sailor.  Ran most of our big events around here and more elsewhere I think.  He will be missed......:(

"Hey Mr Kresge??  What is the official time.....?????  :D  "

Sad news.

I was out there a few years ago on a beautiful May day, and I’ve never seen weather turn like that before

God speed to Paul and condolences to his family. He was a superb sailor, kind person and a leader at the Dillon Yacht Club. It really is a miracle they found him and brought him home. The searchers didn’t give up and used all the tools they had.

I was there racing Dillon Saturday. It was a bad deal.
