Trump's got better things to worry about that people dying by the score

The Trump administration is planning to make shower heads great again.

The Energy Department proposed on Wednesday easing water efficiency requirements for shower heads following multiple complaints from President Donald Trump about how low water flow is impeding his ability to properly wash his hair.

The rule comes after Trump has railed against shower heads that go "drip, drip, drip," as well as low-flow toilets and taps among other appliances.

"You turn on the shower — if you're like me, you can't wash your beautiful hair properly," Trump said earlier this month during a visit to a Whirlpool manufacturing plant in Ohio. "You waste 20 minutes longer. Please come out. The water — it drips, right?"

Sol,

FL has to be going broke at a pretty quick rate with the very reduced tourism.  What's your take on the next few years as far as FL's economy/recovery?  I have to believe that many people have been crushed by COVID and want a scapegoat.  Anyone hanging DeSantis in effigy?  Of course the important thing is football is back on track.

We’ll be fine through November. Trump will make sure we are flush through the election. After that, who knows.

I'd like to see Trump flushed through the election. At the very least, have large people hold his head in the toilet while they crank it through the cycle a few times.

I agree and from where I sit in CO you are 100% correct...  You are as far removed from the ugly bits down there as i am , but unfortunately the way florida goes generally means that is the way the election goes recently....  At this point we are not the united states, we are like Europe with 50 countries all vying for whatever they can get because of leadership that is non existent.

You guys have a decent S20 fleet over there??  <_<

I agree, except that I don't think we are all that removed from anything. Today's world is so dense and connected that an impact will be felt.

I get that the US states often see themselves as singular entities, each with their own ways and often opposed to other states. It may actually be just like that, BUT for the rest of the world you are one, the United States of America. Which also means, if the White House fucks up, you fuck up. Some Govs fuck up? The USA fucks up. To top it off, the destructive raving lunatic in the WH is giving a lot of other "leaders" weird ideas, because if he can pull the shit he does why can't we? I believe that mindset even includes tools like that no-masks Florida sheriff.

Re the S20: I am not familiar with this class, but according to their website the organized fleets are all in the US.

Yes we own that..  and yes we have always seen ourselves as one nation..  It's in the fricking pledge of allegiance for christ sakes, but now, there is no central leadership for the first time in forever, so we are forced to associate with our state exclusively for the first time in my lifetime...  It's weird, and unfortunate, but it is what it is....

... but it is also super interesting, in a positive way!

I am waiting for the Govs and Mayors to realise that the big chair in the WH is actually empty, no help or directive can be expected from there. I am waiting for them to rally up, team up. To take action on state, county, city level and squash the spread as thoroughly as possible and then open up again with close testing and monitoring.

To points:

  1. The orange clown is too busy fiddling with rates and his mushroom? Fuck him. Cut him out of the loop. No longer needed.
  2. Stand your ground. Love thy neighbour, take care of each other. Do the right thing, regardless of propaganda and angry tweets.

I might have to wait a little longer, maybe.

Co is in a coalition with a bunch of western states and this region seems to be handling the whole thing quite well.  My parents are from Chicago and are on the boat in the 1000 islands as we speak..  So i am familiar with 3 states.  CO has been discussed.  IL is doing OK, Chicago area is handling it as well as a big city can.  Upstate NY is Upstate NY. My parents are wearing masks as dad has cancer and has no immune system.  My uncle..  well he is a full throated trumpaloo and so is his fam...  We used to go to his Cabin all the time.  Now they are avoiding him like the plague...  3 totally different approaches that seem to be working.  Down south...  Not so much...

Before the CW, people identified more as citizens of a particular State  -  which explains why some people fought for the side they personally disagreed with.

I am aware of a lot of these actions and the problems that came with them. They have definitely done more good than harm!

But that is not my point. My point is to establish short, effective ways of communication and action, bypassing the WH and long winding protocols. I know that a phone call between university buddies can shorten the usual paper work by months, circumventing state and corporate protocols. Just get the job done.

But maybe that's wishful thinking; it would ultimately mean that Govs, Mayors and - probably most important - every average Jane and Joe agree to follow a pretty basic ruleset to save themselves along with their family, friends and neighbours.

I also know it's not an easy thing to do, not in the US and obviously not in europe or indeed any other part of the world that somehow mitigated the first wave and then lowered their guard in presumed relief. There are spikes again, everywhere, from people returning from holidays in packed planes and resorts, and lately from schools reopening. Add the odd meat processing plant and hordes of farm helpers, and here we are again, closing in on the March/April scenario when it first took off.

I'm not clear on the distinction.

Is there any way that planeload of supplies (for example) got in, and escorted by Troopers from 3 different States... by following normal, long, winding, protocols?

Also, it's good to note that the police escort was there to protect the cargo from the mitts of the Feds, who were confiscating said goods and exporting to buddies, worldwide.

Now, if the US Gov't had a policy of working to ensure the hot-spots were attended to aggressively, like during the Ebola scare, then that would be the way to go. But that's wasn't the strategy, at all.

I think I remember that incident?

If that planeload was organized and delivered on short notice while still following the "normal, long, winding protocols", even better! :)

There might simply be no need for destinction or a semi-rogue plan B, if the proper and legal ways work just as well.

Does that still count when State Troopers are needed to fend off some Feds trying to snatch the cargo and redirect it to Jared?

But seriously: I don't want to be the armchair coach or smartass here. But if the proven, trusted ways are essentially nuked by Trump's posse, circumventing them seems the logical and right choice to me ... and after especially the last 8 months a little anarchy might be a healthy thing.

Testing nationwide has been dropping since about the time of Trump's comment in Tulsa.  Positivity rate of tests has dropped very little, so, the drop in new cases is largely attributable to less testing.  While every credible health official is saying more testing is needed to get the virus under control, we are testing less.  Thanks Trump!

Don't forget about Florida, Bullshitters.  Our numbers are falling, especially on the weekend, but we can still get days with 181 people dropped by the COVID, like today. With almost 10,600 dead from it in the state, perhaps we should consider the possibility that bullshit doesn't stop it.

Did anybody lead the link?   There were too many extra deaths and the coroners were backing up.   Testing dead bodies was expensive.    It sounds like an admission of failure to control COVID to me.   Will physicians call more COVId or less?   It’s an easy way to explain why so many patients stroke out without prior diagnosis of risk factors.   It avoids admitting they shouldn’t have prescribed so many narcotics.

As in "overwhelming the medical system"?

As opposed to "flatten the curve"?

I am not trying to be a smart ass here, and I swear there is not the least bit of "Schadenfreude" involved. It is just painful to witness a nation as strong and leading in medical and science as the US to fail at the (by now) obvious spreaders, because of propaganda.

Just for perspective: Florida with about 22m people and over 10,000 dead has overtaken the whole of Germany with 83m people and a bit short of 10,000 dead. That's 4:1. And it gets worse, as Florida alone has way more than twice of Germany's reported cases (550k+ vs 220k). Texas and California as single states have also overtaken our whole country, with an alarming number of US states following closely.

Wear a fucking mask. Vote. (I know I am starting to repeat myself ... )

Wear a fucking mask. Vote. (I know I am starting to repeat myself ... )

Florida has better bullshitters running the show than Germany does.

I am not sure "better" does compute ...

190 today, bullshitters. It’s almost as if the virus isn’t distracted by bullshit. Please do better.

147 today, Bullshitters.  That bumps Florida's COVID death toll to 11,650. That's one hell of a democRAT hoax. Another 3,500 cases will ensure a steady supply going forward.

Could you guys try to distract a bit harder or at least more efficiency?  It seems the virus is not distracted by bullshit.

Another 100 people lost to the covid in FL today, Bullshitters, keeping that 7 day moving average well above 100 still. But hey there's still hope.  Maybe you'll be able to cherry pick the sunday numbers and pinch off some good bullshit that way.  One of these days, your bullshit is going to fool that virus!

Those valiant >65 yo Americans are sacrificing their lives in order to save our Union from those who would dismantle it. Their deaths are beginning to look like they will have a statistical impact in the direction of 'less bullshit' on November 3.  Another own goal by Captain Ron and the orange man who cucks him daily by screwing over DeSantis' constituents while he looks on from the corner.

Stay safe, Sol.

We're going to open up the bars and get back to business in the next week or two, and the kids are getting back to school now.

The virus is SO last month. Just click your heels together and say "Why's that, Captain Ron?" Just remember, that there will be many questions facing us going forward, but the only one that matters is from Office Space, below:

I was told there would be staplers.

The Charlotte High School Fighting Tarpons play the Desoto County High School Bulldogs this evening in the season opener of football season.

How do the linemen socially distance?

Florida is just shy of 12k dead from COVID, Bullshitters, and just went over the 650K confirmed case count. Bang up job. Do you think you could cook up some better bullshit that actually distracts the virus? Thanks.

Changing the topic to me is good bullshit but it probably won't work.  I'm just going to keep reminding you what the numbers are, and stick with the facts and the numbers. I'll leave the bullshit to bullshitters.

The assemblage of words below by may be the most apt, properly descriptive, demonstrably correct set of words assembled in a group since the ink was shiny and moist on the Gutenberg Bible. Kudos.

Well, after the weekly lull in reporting over the weekend (a holiday weekend, no less), Florida is back up there.

Sol might ask why people are still of the opinion bullshit is effective against a virus.

Oh, and the US will likely break 195K dead by morning.

Well, we heard from @Movable Ballast that being in the 8th-12th place of deaths/capita is a good thing.

378 today, Bullshitters.  That's what happens when you sit on the numbers for a while. The people still died and sooner or later they're gonna get counted.

378 people, after over 200 yesterday. If you work quickly, you can spin up some bullshit on the seven day average before today's numbers muck that up for you.  Go get it, Bullshitters. Maybe you can convince the loved ones of those people that they aren't really dead.

Good news Bullshitters. Today’s numbers were scaled back. Only 205 people died in FL from COVID today. The others must have come back to life. Behold the healing power of bullshit.

Hey, that makes perfect sense.

If you're going to catch a potentially deadly virus, you might as well get drunk while you do it
