Spin Pole Ring Height?

Recommended Posts

I need to add a ring to an aluminum mast

The boat has a sprit and asym, so I will only use the ring for poling out a jib in weeknight non-spin racing.

I don't want a track

How do I know how high to put the ring - is there some rule of thumb?

the jib is non-overlapping

I was thinking; put it at the height of the jib clew when the jib is out as far outboard as it will go, and still attach to the pole - so the pole would be horizontal

any thoughts?

I figure it's probably not super critical - but I don't want to have to move it and end up with extra holes in the mast.

Sounds like your plan is a good rule of thumb.  Gives you the most projection.

I'd do what you typed, as long as the pole didnt ride on the lifeline. That would bug me
