Under Biden as president it would obviously take 2 hours to go 80miles at 80mph, because the globalist communist government is going to take half your miles.

Right, trying to follow you here.

What's the outcome of you or any single one individual scanning these faces?

It would be possible evidence from one of 330,000,000 USAnians that he or she recognizes any number of mugs out of 6,000. One, none, six, the highschool football team. I would argue, although this can be helpful in the endgame of narrowing pixels down to persons, the point of this exercise is a very different one: The point is about extracting any number of faces from any number of footage and angles and deduplicating them. This is number crunching, a job for machines.

Now the FBI can run these 6k mugs against whatever sources they have, most likely driver licenses and possibly previous convictions. They cross examine with cell tower data and then social media. This would lead from a mugshot to having been around to having taken part, IDs as a bonus. The accuracy of step one would be around 70% at best, but it's a start.

That said: this is about the loonies that stormed the Capitol, not about you (as in "anybody out there") struggeling to get insurance for your next car because of frequent visits to the liquor store (as a very blunt example where this tech may take us).

Who ever thought wearing a mask to prevent your photo being taken and switching off your personal tracking device would be a good idea? Imagine that.

Honestly a lot of those people count as too stupid to breathe without coaching.

wow (regarding the video of the math challenged blond wifey)

Speed is relative to how much air is in your tires, so a cop going 80 mph is going faster since his tires are full?

This explains a great deal of American politics.

But it doesn't explain @Dog. Supporting a treasonous bastard and thinking it principled defies mere stupidity. But it has parallels in that both are mind bogglingly dumb.

Oh, that idea has been floating around since June 2020 or so, but it didn't really appeal to the elk.

The other would be just to help out with a lead.  I'd rat any one of them out in a heartbeat if they took part in that shit.

Fair enough. I guess I might be inclined to do the same although I seem to be blessed with rather uncrazy people around me.

However, in this particular race against AI assisted mass face recognition you would be sailing the course without being listed or rated. (Not sure if I got that last part right?!)

Faces of the Riot used open source software to detect, extract, and deduplicate every face.

But I have to say: what sounds kind of cute or even righteous now, is technology that can and will be used in much broader appliances. And if it can be monetized, it will be. So that is something every society that values their freedoms will have to monitor carefully.

A handful of people, myself included, are interested in the privacy and other civil liberties concerns of facial recognition. It's not a topic of much interest on this forum, but if you're interested I have posted about it a few times in this thread.

So just read about a guy arrested at Reagan airport on Jan8 - Delta flight returned to terminal and he was escorted off, wouldn't stop yelling Trump 2020.

So, cop watches him coming off the plane, Delta books him on a later flight (he learned his lesson?), cop is scrolling through his Instagram and sees that guy coming out of the Capitol yelling, we did it, fuck yeah!.  Same shirt, carrying same Trump flag. YCMTSU.  I would include dumber than a box of rocks but just seems unnecessary.  Rocks don't do stupid shit.

At Least 38 Capitol Police Officers Test Positive For COVID-19 Since Jan. 6 Riots

The count of COVID-19 cases in the wake of the January 6 insurrection continues to grow.

A total of 38 U.S. Capitol Police officers have tested positive as of Friday night, according to a union leader for the force.

Approximately 150 National Guard troops have also tested positive since the attack, CBS News reported on Friday.

In the weeks since Adam Newbold, a former member of the Navy SEALs, was identified as part of the enraged crowd that descended on the Capitol on Jan. 6, he has been interviewed by the F.B.I. and has resigned under pressure from jobs as a mentor and as a volunteer wrestling coach. He expects his business to lose major customers over his actions.

But none of it has shaken his belief, against all evidence, that the presidential election was stolen and that people like him were right to rise up.

It is surprising because Mr. Newbold’s background would seem to armor him better than most against the lure of baseless conspiracy theories. In the Navy, he was trained as an expert in sorting information from disinformation, a clandestine commando who spent years working in intelligence paired with the C.I.A., and he once mocked the idea of shadowy antidemocratic plots as “tinfoil hat” thinking.

Even so, like thousands of others who surged to Washington this month to support President Donald J. Trump, Mr. Newbold bought into the fabricated theory that the election was rigged by a shadowy cabal of liberal power brokers who had pushed the nation to the precipice of civil war. No one could persuade him otherwise.

Brainwash people into killing people based on lies (WMDs, etc.) and wonder why they are willing to kill people based on lies.

There is unfortunate blowback for Trump supporters who attended the rally but did not take part in the subsequent riot.

Allentown teacher Jason Moorehead was suspended pending the results of an investigation into his actions at the January 6th rally after he posted on social media pics of his attendance at the rally and then retweeted a comment that minimized the violence at the Capitol because "everyone there was insured."

He is suffering significant outcry and damage to his professional reputation because of the paid suspension. At what point does the school system suppress free speech by suspending an employee based on their sharing their political speech? Because it is a governmental institution, it should show great restraint and caution when publicly disciplining employees on First Amendment issues.

Otherwise, the government is no better than @The Joker or @Dog who routinely label BLM a criminal organization. Our government needs to be held to a much higher standard than these private individuals apply to themselves.

I think it depends on what his role was at the "rally".  If he was one of those who did not cross the barricades, then he should not be suspended or otherwise punished as that is absolutely a free speech issue.  However, if he crossed the barricades and entered the capitol bldg, then that is a criminal offense and could be rightfully terminated.

Teachers are teachers 24/7.  Everything a teacher does in their private life is subject to scrutiny.  If you have a domestic dispute with a spouse that turns violent, are found to be consuming illegal substances, or (at least in the district I worked in) having an extra-marital affair, you risk losing your teaching position.  The term is "conduct unbecoming".  And that is the way it should be IMHO.  Too bad we don't hold politicians to the same high standard.

But if the same teacher attended a BLM rally, that's OK right?

That is not even slightly true.  Perhaps for a Marine Corps rifleman private who is told to charge that hill and take that machine gun.  But the spec ops guys in particular are picked for their ability to think critically and outside of the box and to question nonsense orders.  These guys are put into the most difficult mental challenges both in training and in real combat.   And even the lowest ranking guys are capable of independent thought and decision making when cut off from the chain of command.

If the article is correct that this guy became so utterly brainwashed, then it's an testament to the power of this sort of fact-less propaganda and we need to be even more afraid of it and take action to counter it.

Kinda depends on whether the teach broke any laws, does it not? Plenty of folks have been to BLM rallies without breaking any laws, myself included. Ours was to protest the confederate soldier greeting people at the front door of the building where people seek equal justice under the law. The only people who broke the law were the people threatening to kill the lot of us, but their Big Talk went the way of what Granny Hawkins thought.

It would be just as ok as attending a Trump rally, provided they didn't engage in violence or attempted insurrection.  In other words, no "conduct unbecoming".  Teachers can express their political views, but they can't engage in untoward behaviour.  As pointed out above, the teacher involved in this will likely be reinstated if the investigation shows he didn't go to the Capitol.

OTOH, there are limits - attending a KKK rally or a rally for a white supremacist organization might be viewed as untoward, but those aren't political views, they are racist views.

That's my entire point.  If the guy was just part of the rally and didn't break any laws, then there are no grounds for the school to suspend or sanction him.  That would indeed be a violation of the 1A since the school is a gov't run and federally funded entity.  If he crossed the barricades, then that's a whole 'nother story.

Same exact thing for BLM'ers.  If you march peacefully, you are well within your rights.  If you Smash windows, loot, and set cars and buildings on fire - then you are a criminal.

Technical question for those that have watched more of the videos than I; from what I saw it looked as if there were 3 layers of control, an outer barrier, the inner barrier at the steps of the Capitol and the doors and windows of the building.  Is this correct? Certainly, anyone that was at the TOP of the steps was trespassing as they would have gone through the barriers near the bottom of the steps but if there was a control barrier further out then anyone near the steps would have been trespassing and chargeable. So if the teacher was on the steps then he was certainly not 'protesting" legitimately but trespassing and subject to disciplinary action.

If you refer to an organization owning criminal mayhem on the scale of riots, you are labeling them a criminal organization, or at least that they are routinely associated with violent crime.

To be fair, that descriptor could be applied to the previous Presidential Administration.  The assaults at the rallies and culminating with the events of January 6.

Jesus Christ, do you sell used cars or are you a former WH spokesperson?  You're the Sarah Sanders of Kayleigh McEnany's but have lasted for 39,000 Scaramuccis.

Those were Philly's words. Take it up with him.

Same exact thing for BLM'ers.  If you march peacefully, you are well within your rights.  If you Reich Wing infiltrators Smash windows, loot, and set cars and buildings on fire - then you they are a criminals.

FIFY

Why do some of ya persist in ignoring copious evidence of Far Reich violence at and around BLM protests ??

It's just got to be a racial thing . .

Can you please point out the RW infiltrators in these pics?  I'm having the hardest time picking them out.  TIA.

And yet another maroon gets busted - wears HS football letter jacket with school name and his number on it. Denies he went in, Feds get phone then he says was pushed in by the crowd, phone shows him saying posting we got in, we failed but fuck it. Posting your shit on the interdweebnets prolly not a great ID.

And Burnet Downe Syndrome Man continues to whatabout. Looters are criminals, they get arrested. Not a federal offense, overturning snacks not the same as the federal government.

Admittedly he makes a good point.  Righties are hard to spot in those photos as there is nobody with a company ID badge, a HS football letter jacket with his number on it, or holding their driver's license up to the camera while yelling out their social security number.

Follow up question:  Does anyone recall the last time an electoral college vote count was taken in a fucking Target?

I’m not going to copy and paste all the photos, but can anyone point out the BLM protestors in them for me?

I can’t seem to find the BLM organizational leaders, nor the usual broad civilian support I associate with their marches and goals in those pictures of rioting people.

Got it. You are labeling BLM a routinely violent criminal organization.

Using your metric, that’s just like the GOP, I guess.

Funny, despite so many Harvard trained elite, extraordinary fiscal resources and powerful operatives, the GOP seems to be using the same tactics of rioting and violence to stay in power as your bogeymen are utilizing to try and get it.

Still, Pro-Trump Republicans are the only ones to be deadly insurrectionists. Perhaps they are teaching how to _really_ use such tools.

Rioting in cities and neighborhoods is futile. If you want to change the world, aim high! Assassinate federal officers, kidnap governors and storm the Capitol chanting “Hang Mike Pence.”

Gotta hand it to the GOP, they really are beating your version of BLM at their own game.

I was not doing a whatabout.  It had nothing to do with the capitol insurrection.  Read aj's post I was responding to.  He claimed that looting and rioting was all RW infiltrators.  I asked him to point them out.
