"Particularly when you're in the situation of almost being in a crisis with the number of cases and hospitalizations and deaths that we have -- when you start talking about things that make no sense medically and no sense scientifically, that clearly is not helpful," Fauci, the chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, said on CNN's "New Day" Friday. Asked by CNN's John Berman if the lack of candor over the last year and lack of facts, in some cases, cost lives, Fauci said, "You know, it very likely did." Did setting up temporary hospitals and deploying hospital ships downplay the pandemic? Did invoking the Defense Production Act to produce ventilators and PPE downplay the pandemic? Did Operation Warp Speed which produced a vaccine in 9 months downplay the pandemic? Yes, he called it a "hoax". Quote “Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. … One of my people came up to me and said, ‘Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia.’ That didn’t work out too well. They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything, they tried it over and over. … And this is their new hoax.” — Trump, at a campaign rally in North Charleston, S.C. And yes, he played it down Quote “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.” — President Trump, in an interview with CNBC, was asked about the first diagnosed U.S. case. He said he wasn’t worried about a pandemic. Quote “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.” — Trump, in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, when asked how concerned he was about the coronavirus Quote “Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away. I hope that’s true. But we’re doing great in our country. China, I spoke with President Xi, and they’re working very, very hard. And I think it’s going to all work out fine.” — Trump, at a campaign rally in Manchester, N.H. Quote “When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” — Trump, at a coronavirus task force press briefing Quote “This was unexpected. … And it hit the world. And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.” — Trump, to reporters at the U.S. Capitol Quote “It’s going to be, really, a voluntary thing. You can do it. You don’t have to do it. I’m choosing not to do it, but some people may want to do it, and that’s OK. It may be good. Probably will. They’re making a recommendation. Biden sacked Kathleen Kraninger, who was confirmed as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in 2018. Kraninger, who had no previous experience in consumer protection, immediately tried to undermine the agency’s role as a watchdog for the financial sector. She scrapped a landmark rule that restricted predatory payday lending, pressuring staff to downplay the resulting harm to consumers. And she refused to enforce a federal law that protected military personnel against a broad range of predatory lending. Her decision yanked federal support from military families who were defrauded by lenders. In the midst of the pandemic, Kraninger also approved a rule that allows debt collectors to harass Americans with limitless texts and emails demanding repayment. Wow, who knew that Biden is a fan of far-right judicial opinions?

I'm sorry, but for the first time in the history of PA and my time here, the potus truly deserved the hate filled, partisan bullshit directed at him. Sadly it was partisan. The rejection should have been national but it was partisan. Some Republicans joined in his rejection and some even left the party; but Shitstain was overwhelmingly supported by Republicans in the election, receiving more Republican votes than any Republican ever and indeed any candidate ever, save for Joe Biden. There was no debate over conservative ideas at the RNC; there was no GOP platform document. Shitstain remains popular with Republican rank+file with 82% Republican support in his last Gallup poll. The few House Republicans who supported his impeachment are now unpopular with their colleagues. This despite the Congress they all serve in having been attacked by Shitstain's angry and armed mob hours before. Liz Cheney is now in the process of getting ousted from her leadership position. The judgment of Shitstain has been and is profoundly partisan and consequently we have to conclude that the defense of this waddling piece of human garbage is also partisan. The Republican Party, elected and voters, has become a personality cult.

Steam Flyer 5,050 #258 Posted January 24 6 hours ago, Olsonist said: Sadly it was partisan. They have become a fascist insurgency against the Constitutional gov't of the U.S. If they win a majority again, the odds are high that it's all over. - DSK

Luckily, they are telegraphing their plans over on Gab.com, so the FBI can see what they are up to. Trump wasn't competent, but had he been there isn't much doubt he could have overthrown democracy in the USA. Both parties need to take some lessons from what just happened and work to provide better safeguards.
