Guess she did not drop the rig, she's back on the radar screen with a 6th in race #4 and 7 more to go.

The Yacht Club looks a little rough. Wonder what they do for fun?

Hey Ventucky guys,

I wanted to compliment you on the daily trophies at Ventucky Cup (aka John Deere Regatta). Nice padded zipper wine bag with the embroidery on the front. I finally unzipped it yesterday hoping to find a couple of bottles of nice Chard. To my surprise it was 2 bottles of 2 Buck Chuck. Priceless.

I love you guys.

Hey, how can someone from a town built on silicone (NOT silicon) complain about the substance inside the package??? It looked good from the outside, didn't it?:lol:

I've got a good line on genuine John Deere caps. Could be the ultimate "Red Cap" antidote. We could spread 'em wide... You want for next year???

Yer on partner. I think the John Deere hats are exactly what this regatta needs to pump it up. No more silly t-shirt designs.

We'll do'er next year!

Mumm 30 Worlds....

Deneen is still hanging in there with a tough crowd. She's now in 10th out of 37 with two races to go and yesterday must have felt good with a bullet.

Max, which one were you supposed to be on? Inquiring minds want to know.

Attention Melges 24 shoppers, a couple of lower priced boats came on the market this week, may be worth checking out.

Used sails from Ullman are available on SA in the "sails" classified section.

Hull 87, 17,000.00USD charleston, SC

Hull 14, 24,000.00USD Muskegon, MI

The Sea Shell Wine Tasting and Boat Tour was a huge success as usual (sold out).

Well, of course...wine, boats, great food, 450 people tettering down marina one.

And making money for kids sailing programs..priceless.

Melonhead had his usual suspects helping him BBQ big juicy wienies and Mrs. Melonhead and Leslie were awesome organizing the great silent auction. Wine was donated by about 20 local wineries (no 2Buck Chuck here). Rumor was they raised more than ever!

JAG was escort and navigator for a group of Mrs. JAG's sailing gal pals. Tactics became more difficult later in the day, more like herding cats, as vision became impaired and no one brought a GPS. With increasing darkness upon us,we just clung to our wine glasses like life vests and headed in the direction of the Club. As far as getting home, JAG proclaimed, "I am just the tactician, I'm not driving!"

Deneen Demourkas (USA), Team OMEGA: "I think I went the fastest I've ever gone: 23.2 knots in 30 knots of wind. When the bow went down, there was water everywhere! For a second I felt like I was in the Volvo Ocean Race. The boats are beautiful to drive downwind and responsive upwind in the gusts. They have a pretty nice balance."

"Boat P-12 (Team Omega) is used as a platform for potential new owners. Russell regularly invites them to join the team for a race, take the helm during the fleet regattas and act as tacticians during match-races."

BTW, did you know that Brennan & Kristen got married on Taxi two weeks ago? (finally)

Maybe the Taxi guys can recoup their losses by renting it out as a wedding chapel?

When I volunteered to be RC I asked who maintained the master email address list. I was told that every individual maintains their own list. So I put together a list from various sources. Some of the address were bad. As time went on I received some emails from folks asking me to change their address on my distribution list.

I figured that there had to be a better way. I thought that ASBCYC should maintain the list. Well ASBCYC doesn't have a web presence nor do they have much in the way of staff. Recently I realized that Google Groups has the tools to allow me to set-up a distribution list and the users could update their own addresses as necessary.

So I set-up a Google Group in honor of ASBCYC: http://groups.google.com/group/asbcyc This group is currently set-up so that Race Chairs and Race Managers can send out race documents (NOR's, Entry forms, SI's, results, etc) to the group members. Race Chairs and Race Managers need only send a message to asbcyc@googlegroups.com and all group members will be forwarded the message. If you accidently delete the email you receive then you can go to the web address above and see all posted files.

I did not want to make this a chat list - someone else can set that up if they want or you can just continue to use Sailing Anarchy.

If you want to join the group just click on over to http://groups.google.com/group/asbcyc

Yeah, I'm bummed a bit. I had a rough summer taking care of my mom and my crew did not practice once. We did a group vote and decided to pass on Long Beach and focus on Puerto Vallarta which is supposed to have a better turnout next year (Annie Nelson, Alice Lahey, etc). Actually the team is going out for the first time this Sunday with a party afterwards, we'll be thinking about the fun we always have in LB. See ya next time!

I'll raise you one FRACK and

Hijack again.

But seriously:

There are two upcoming vacancies on the SB Harbor Commission. It would be for our benefit to get a sailor in there. Many times there are Commissioners who don't have a boat or understand the boating/slip etc problems and they are the ones who decide on slip fees, improvements to the harbor, etc. I did a stint from 1996-99. It is a non paying but not always thankless job, lots of issues to read up on but only meets once a month on the third Thursday.

If you or someone you know is interested, the application must be in by November 1 to City Hall. Interviews and appointments to the Commission are made by City Council.

Think about it and pass it around. Thanks

Random thoughts:

1. Janer, we need to get the SBYC BoD meetings and SB Harbor Commission monthly meetings on different nights.

2. I nominate Thomas Dabney for sailor/fisherman/person of the year. Thanks for setting the bar high!

3. Max/BB: Should the car be in 'General Anarchy' under "Midlife Crisis"? Please don't mow me down with 289 hp! kidding....

4. Melges 24s rule!

5. One Designs rules!

6. Kenny, flip (i.e. sell) the car for a profit and buy a Melges. You only have so many year before Page will be whipping you (us) up on the race course.

7. What the hell am I going to do tomorrow night?!?!?! This must be the longest week of the year...

To address the above:

1. When I was on the SB Board and after being on the Harbor Commission, I begged the board to change their meeting date. There are many city (Harbor Commission) issues which need our Board and sailing members to be present. Otherwise it went like this: the only opposing vote to raise slip fees is Commissioner Watkins and there is no public comment. It appalls me that we do not pay attention to the Harbor Commission meetings and certainly the SBYC Board Meeting could be on a different night, so that we can protect our interests. (Including our City lease) They (sbyc Board)declined the change.Although that was 8 years ago maybe you could ask again.

2. I nominate Thomas Dabney for absolutely anything. He would be great on our board or the Harbor Commission or Best Person of the Year.

3. Yes a red Melges 24 or go to GA

4. ditto

5. Undisputable

6. Same as 3

7. Ditto, see you at the rum tasting on Friday. It will be a hateful non sailing wednesday with breeze 20-30 knots

love ya no shit

JAG,

Thanks for the input. I think you would be my first choice to be a Commissioner (not that its up to me but you would be so perfect) but there's the date conflict with the YC Board Meeting (unless it could be finally changed) Kinda racking my brain for others who have been exposed to city and harbor politics that we could shmooze to get into one of these positions and have them do a conciencious job. Not a lot of names come to mind; Harteck,S Gordon. Gabriel,Browning? Any ideas. Like I said, deadline is soon. Would love to have "our voice" be a part of the upcoming decisions. Let me get this straight, with all the issues your club faces (lease, slip fees, parking spaces, whatever), you don't go to the Harbor Commission meetings?

And the reason no one goes is the fact that the BOD meetings are on the same night? You can't reschedule your own cocktail, err, BOD meeting?

Hey,

Thanks for your help.....

Your welcome, somebody had to say it.

Not on your BOD nor a member of the club, if I was I would organize mandatory club attendance of some level at every Harbor Commission meeting. This is SB and the squeaky wheel gets noticed and acknowleged and if you don't stick up for your selves you will get run over.

Stop whining and get on it.

KELP CUT!!!!!!!

Whatever Clown...

When the City comes and takes away half the parking lot you're going to wish someone had put down their cocktail and gone to the meetings to speak on the club's behalf. Pay attention, I am not part of the problem being I am not a member of the yacht club or the Harbor Commission, just a (no longer) interested bystander wondering why the yacht club does not appear to stick up for it's self.

Repeat, the solution is attendance at the meetings by yacht club members and or yacht club BOD members.

Not my job, it's yours.

What the heck is going on? The ashes started filling the skies about noon until you could no longer see the sun. I thought for sure it was a new fire, but I guess it's the Zaca ashes being blown to us by the high winds. I left two windows open at my house and now it's full of ashes.

I did not see the ocean today but heard part of an emergency broadcast on my radio.."do not go near the ocean, extremely high waves.Beep Beep Beep." The gal team was planning on racing tomorrow. Any local guesses on what's happening? I think it blew from 0 to 20 here today and the west buoy never saw more than 25. Any predictions? Thanks.

It was flippin' creepy out there today. We stopped by the club around 3p to see a narrow, off-shore wind line wreaking havoc on a couple of Lasers... Harbor patrol had to go out and offer assistance, thought they end up at Santa Cruz without help!

It's still blowing dogs of chains on the Mesa at 9:30p and the cats are acting like they're on a hot tin roof. Very, very weird Santa Ana winds with the dirty ash in the air.

Have fun on the 105, bbq after?

So what are WE going to name the new TP65?

The three???

I'm thinking maybe "Triquetra" which is an ornament with 3 lobes.

The hull color will be a problem, yellow or red? Or a combo which leads to...

"Canary in a Blender"

Your turn Max.
