      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Turkey Bowl here in Raritan Bay NJ, but the breeze is over 20 so they postponed till tomorrow. (this is in JY15s) ...and we're not allowed to hit each other anymore. The rub rails are waiting for parts/TLC.

Wat fun is a JY15 Regatta if you're not allowed to hit each other? =/

Come on ZAR. If 3,000 are willing to run a Turkey Trot, us few sailors can man up.

If the rain holds off, it could be ideal. 14+ knots and flat seas. You could be in Canada in no time.

As for the scotch I hope to God it's been drunk by now. I already picked up another bottle to take its place.

There was something along those lines in last year's SI's-I think we threw empty tequila bottles at the committee boat-no worries Mike, this year its being run by Huguenot.

The offending passage from last year's race:

"I will not use, possess or provide any alcoholic beverages during this event nor permit any use or possession on my craft or by my crews. I will inform all crew members of the conditions stated herein, and that such conditions shall apply to each crew member as a condition of their participation in the event. "

The best part of it was we were drinking while the RC stayed sober and yet still they managed to screw up the finish and we seemed to be the only ones to notice.

We had a nice Turkey Regatta today with steady 20 knots breeze and sunshine. We almost got through a race without controversy.. but Noooooooo.

Back at the bar results were announced and trophies handed out (Wild Turkey bottles). But the inevitable murmuring over the winner's declared rating stared through the crowd. What the hell? Fnally I said this is simple. The ratings are posted on the yralis website. Just look them up and confirm them. And there it is in black and white. The rating was dated July, about 24 points faster than todays declaration. It's a one off boat that's been due a rating review for some time. But how could this be? Wouldnt the owner have notified the RC of the correct rating? After all it has sailed since July in many regattas since then. What about all those races and trophies since the adjustment? Well, results for the Turkey race were rescored and the bottle of Wild Turkey was forfeited. There is no bottle of WT for 4th place. Hmmmmnnnnn.

Still under investigation. Not sure how YRALIS does non spin ratings - the website list the same ratings for spin or non spin on all boats. But a quick lokk shows the boat's had 3 different ratings in 4 seperate events this summer with a 31 point range. For now the bottle of rum has been re-possesed and the case is under review and may be forwarded to an independent specially appointed Moosehead sub committee prosecutor.

The problem with full blooded WOPS is they are too impatient. Look what happened to Santino Corleone.

Two bulls, a grandfather and a grandson, were standing on a hillside overlooking a pasture full of cows.

The young one says 'Grandpa, lets run down there and fuck one of those cows!

The old man says 'Grasshopper, lets walk down there and fuck them all'.

Im not wearing any pants right now.

I have no problem calling people out. Like the Long Islander who missed a mark on one Stratford Shoal Race and when it was questioned a day or two later that his time didnt make sense, he was given the option of falling on his sword. He was doublehanded and 'won' fleet overall by 45 minutes against a fully crewed Swan 44 beating upwind 25 miles in 25kts TWS and 4 foot seas. Even we cant suck that bad. The mark he missed happned to be Stratford Shoal Lighthouse, in a Stratford Shoal Race. But honest mistakes happen. Even to Donald Crowhurst. Checking with yralis first.

So, how does that work in real life. If someone makes the wrong call (the last 2 tacks) do you blame one of your own sock puppets, or someone else's sock puppet.

Curious.
