      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

Detroit Lion Anarchy

Quote from the Free Press:

"Free agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper is visiting the Lions today, after reportedly canceling a visit to Kansas City and saying he is in negotiations with a team that is a better fit."

Dear God, what sort of retarded masochist would look at the Lions and say "I think I can fit in well with that team".

Wanting to play for them should be grounds for institutionalization.

Unless Cullpepper is going to sign as the new coach, then they aren't looking in the right direction.

Daunte Culpepper has put his retirement on hold to reportedly sign a two-year contract with the Detroit Lions.

ESPN.com is reporting that the former Pro-Bowl quarterback will make it official Monday. Terms of the deal were not released.

The 31-year old Culpepper announced his retirement from the NFL in September after he was only offered one-year contracts to play this season.

Culpepper has a great deal of knowledge of the NFC North having starred for six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Lions, who are still in search of their first win of the season, have been looking for a starter since putting Jon Kitna on IR earlier in the season. Dan Orlovsky has started the past three games for Detroit.

Anybody want to put some odds on how long his knees are going to hold up?

Shit, I thought for sure we were gonna give it to the lions......how Bear-like would it be to lose to a 0-7 team!!

Well, at least we lost our quarterback, free safety, and are back with that Gross Florida bumble-boy.

At top the NFC North with no-where to go but down....................

(But we did beat the Lions.................................... :P )

Yup the Lions made it interesting but worked their magic in the end and we're half way to the 0-16 season.

Watching that game yesterday I couldn't help but think Grossman would make a fine addition to Detroit's ball club. Look up over rated in the dictionary and you'll find his picture.

Next week could be The Possums toughest test of the season. In spite of themselves they may actually get a W against Jacksonville. If they can get past the Jag's with an L the Possums place in history is all but assured.

Man, they had me scared for a while. Two touchdowns in 13 seconds and a 23-13 halftime lead? Could they blow their perfect season? No! That's my team, they came through in the end. Go Lie-Downs!!!!!

I just hope the Lions can hang on for 8 more games. This last Sunday made me a little nervous. I'm looking forward to being there in person to see a little bit of history as Detroit finishes it's perfect season this December.

That fucking song is almost as bad as the Possums are.

If a bomb were dropped on that sadium during a game, the state of Michigans IQ average would get a 45 point bump.

The song is unquestionably lame, the good news is that as bad as the Lydowns are you don't have to hear it much. 24-7 at the half, it looks like the streak will continue.

Some things don't change...

"Roy Williams is happy to be back home in Texas.

But nearly a month after he gained his freedom from Detroit, Williams isn't happy about his role with his new team, the Dallas Cowboys. The former Pro Bowl receiver, traded Oct. 14 for a package of draft picks, has caught just three passes in three games, and has been used mostly as a third-down possession receiver.

"It's frustrating for me, because I'm on the sidelines," Williams told reporters this week. "You can't do nothing on the sidelines."

Asked if he was possibly hurt, Williams replied, "Hurt? Yeah, my feelings." "

Culpepper can still throw it...but he had know business starting. Finally Stanton got to play in the 4th quarter and they scored again....He looked better than Daunte.

The fucking Defense blew all day long....more so than any game this season. From my estimate, the Lions had the ball a total of 1 time for around 2minutes in the 3rd Quarter.

Question of the day... How much does Hootie get paid for singing that god for awful song?

FYI, Cohen, Fluellen, and Avril will all be playing this weekend... We'll be able to see how bad/good Millen's final picks at GM/Pres. were.

Veteran Corey Smith and Avril will rotate in White's spot at right defensive end while Alama-Francis will start for DeVries at left end. Fluellen will be the backup at left end, despite the fact he hasn't played the position all season.

"There were just a couple of things I didn't know, but it's pretty much the same thing as (defensive tackle), there's just a little bit more space on the outside," Fluellen said.

Avril has received the most playing time of the four this season, being inactive for only one game. Alama-Francis has been inactive for three games while Fluellen sat for seven games. Cohen has yet to play this season.

Naw, the Lions will manage to win a game, and lose the tie breaker for the top draft pick. They are at Carolina, so no blackout. I am concerned about the Turkey Day game being blacked out though.

US Thanksgiving is a normal work day up here. Usually I take the afternoon off to watch the Lions, but I think this year I will save the vacation time.

At this point I think the 0-16 is in the bag. Really, is there a team left on the schedule you think they can beat?

They face N'orleans next to last game at home. I'm not saying that I expect them to win that game, but it's possible they could screw up their perfect season there.

Minnesota is probably the best shot, although it is a road game. Of course that assumes the defense can tackle Peterson.

Who are guys going to draft (ruin) next year? Matthew Stafford?

Fuck drafting a high ranking QB, They need defense, defense defense. There are 2 awesome LBs available in the first round... That guy from USC and Lauenitis...perfect for middle. There are a couple DEs with top 10 talent that need to be looked at.

Their draft should look like this...

1st round(2 picks)- LB, DE

2nd round- OL(Guard mostly)

3rd round(2 picks)- DE, LB, QB, TE(any 2 will do)

I think the secondary is young enough and good enough if there was a pass rush..... Lenon needs to be replaced at Middle and Dizon needs to be the SAM, not the MIKE(a millen move, BTW)... the DLine has potential with Avril developing nicely for a 3rd rounder... fluellen will be decent with playing time, White is the only playmaker and Redding might be a leader, but he'll never be more than a steady mediocre DT.

Offense is actually looking better with a rusty Culpepper who's only 31...Stanton is better off with limited playing time and learning... same goes for any QB they draft. Bottom line is the Job is open... Orvlosky is in a contract year and if he's not signed by the end of the season, he'll be gone. The Offensive line is starting to run block better, but the guards suck ass. TE needs to be drafted as the Lions can't keep one healthy. If there is a 'chris johnson'(Speed back) in this year's draft the lions should pick'em up for a decent return man.

Sounds good except for the fact that the Lions could clean house and have a whole new GM/Coaching staff.

So looking at the box score, what stat sticks out most?

292 rushing yards given up

23 rushing yards gained

6.9 yard average per play given up

0 for 11 on third down conversions

Sol just insulted a lot of pretty bad teams by comparing them to this bunch of slobs.

I have been giving this much thought. Since the Lions must play on Thanksgiving, we need to develop a time machine before next year's game. The matchup will be the 2008 Lions vs. the 2007 Dolphins. It will be a nail biter right up until the end. With overtime looming in the scoreless game, and time running out, the Lions will win when the Dolphins, backed up to their own goal line, snap the ball over the punters head and out of the back of the end zone. 2-0 Lions. Cam Cameron will be so angry he will utter a four letter word: gosh. You heard it here first.

No way do the '08 Lions beat the '07 Dolphins. I don't think they could even manage a tie.

I'm wondering if the 08' Lions could beat the 08' Wolverines.

2-0 Lions. Just wondering if the '08 Lions could beat any of the Michigan State High School Championship that played in Ford Field on Friday or Saturday. Lets see...

8 teams from West Michigan including 4 from Muskegon, 1 from Holland, 1 from Traverse City, and 2 from the Grand Rapids Area--East Grand Rapids and Rockford.

Good times.

The Wolverines suck too, but to answer your question no the Lions can't beat them either, or Toledo, WMU, De Laslle HS and so on..

So who will be the first pick in the 09 Draft?

Wide Receiver. Probably one that is an overweight undertalented cokehead with an attitude that will sign a huge contract and wash out in two years. Maybe a quarterback that was God's gift in college but can't complete a pass to save his fucking life except to the other team, that will sign a huge contract and wash out in four years. It is the Lions, after all.

Seriously, I would love to see them trade down for a combo of picks to fill some of the glaring needs, but I doubt anyone really wants that top pick. Too much money to sign the draftee.

If there's a God, Tebow.

It will do to Gator what Obama is doing to Carl.

He doesn't strike me as a great pro quarterback. Look at Alex Smith with the niners. Great in Meyer's system, but not so great against behemoths with speed. I don't think he'll turn pro this year, for that reason, but if he does, we'll both be crying, I predict....

If the Lions want Tebow he will be there in the second round. No sense using the top pick on him.

Funny you mention it.

The Bradshaw said he thought Brennen was a much better pro prospect than Tebow last night.

Colt McCoy....the only strike against him is he's a Longhorn.

All this talk of talk picks is pointless, if these kids were smart they'd be sandbagging their seasons so the Lions don't take them. :P

Since Detroit always plays on Thanksgiving, why not change their name to the Detroit Turkeys? Sorry it is a repeat suggestion.....

Last night Detroit Police found a body in the Detroit river. Apparently this guy got drunk and passed out falling into the river and he drowned. When the police pulled the body out he was wearing only Red High Heels, a lace thong, fishnet stocking and a Lions Jersey.

The police removed the Lions Jersey to help the family avoid any unnecessary embarrassment.

what exactly do you lions fans find entertaining about an organization that doesnt want to win?

We don't find any of this entertaining. Mismanagement of this team has left the cupboard empty here. The Lions may only have a half dozen players that could actually make another team.

Hopefully the fact that they aren't even selling out Fraud Field will send a message to the Fords that something needs to change.

The entertaining part is that pro football teams visit 8 weeks a year and we get to see how the game should be played on at least one side of the ball.

As a lifelong Bear fan, I have only one request for the Lions.

If ya'll could wait until December 28th, and then put a stopper in your winless season by beating the cheeseheads in their own house........I'd be forever grateful.

If it would screw up an otherwise high draft pick, I'm sure they would oblige--other than that, I see them heading down the road of perfection--0-16

As close as the game was you should be sending money to the judge who wrote the injunction saving your two probowl defensive line men.

Michigan is a big football state, perhaps not at the level of Texas, Oklahoma and Florida.. but people here love the game. It pains me to say it but one of the best college football programs of all time (not this year) would be U of M. Let me put it this way next time you're around here and you run across a Michigan football fan ask them if they attended the school 1 in 5 chance they will say yes. UM's biggest following is people who didn't even attend the school, until this year UM has had the best football team across all levels and many fans followed them.

Youpers love football too, ask one who their favorite team is and they'll tell you Green Bay or Minnesota. Ask them why and they will politely tell you proximity, ask them their favorite hockey team and they will say Red Wings...WTF happened to Minnesota?

Anyway I like many in this state love Football... but I also love hating the Lions right about now.

0-13, 3 more games to perfect!!

We all know perfectly well the best way for a high draft pick to be screwed up is for the Lions to be making the pick.

No kidding, I wonder if some of the higher picks will be sandbagging their bowl games and combine workouts so the Liedowns don't take them...

Thinking like a fan again. Its all about the cash. The only reason a player turns down being the #1 pick is so they can work more endorsements out of if. Since Eli had a built in doorway to endorsment cash it worked for him. Don't expect it from any of this years players. Besides the only way the Lions can screw this up, is if they don't at least try to trade this pick. They could get a first round pick this year and next plus a 2nd and another lower pick for this year.

I don't know that there will be many other teams bidding for the pick, the money commitment and salary cap hit to the #1 is huge. I would love to see them trade down for additional picks to fill more holes, but we'll see what they can get for it.

unfortunately there is no for sure #1 pick NFL quarterback type in the mix this year. The Lions only hope for getting value out of this pick is for someone to really want a pass rusher or a left tackle.

So there you have the typical Lions' scenario of never doing anything right: the year they finally get it together enough to get the #1 draft pick, there is nobody worth drafting as #1. :)

Can you imagine the level of depression that would be felt by Chace Daniel or Bradford or Sanchez if they were chosen #1 by the Lions? I'd buy stock in whoever makes Xanax.

Problem with the Lions has always been coaching. Lots of talented players have rolled through Motown in the wake of successful stints in other teams and/or successful stints with subsequent teams. Marinelli must go. Maybe they'll hire a coach whose last name doesn't start with M this time. M is for 'mediocre'

I'd have to disagree. The Lions have had some pretty good coaches over the years, Bobby Ross made it to the Super Bowl with the Chargers, Mariucci did pretty well with the Niners. Monte Clark was a decent coach. They have had some duds as well, but the problem has been more with the ownership and team/personnel management than coaching. Millen set the franchise back a good five years should they get someone that knows how to draft and sign decent free agents on board, it will take them that long to get back to respectability.

look, the idiot lions fans are already getting the excuses together for another draft bust!

if the team has half a brain they will draft OT Michael Oher. but they dont, they dont want to win!
