Day 3, With Three Races On Call

Recommended Posts

great job clean! can't load the vids at work but will tonight when I get home. It must suck to be u!

I've discovered that the vids will not play here using Firefox. I get maybe 2 seconds of play time and then they stop although, they will play at youtube. I dunno....

I just switched to explorer and they work fine. I uderstand some places have work controls but maybe this might help someone.

Good job Clean!

Rough day at the office...

This is my morning routine: Dive boat, come back to apartment and have coffee, start OTW report, go on boat. Sometime in there I change out of my wetsuit and clean the funky death from my ears. In fact, if I don't go home with an ear infection I'll be shocked.

Looks like the veranda in the "Bougainvillea". How's the Clipper Bar? Not much reporting on the evening's festivities.

WOW - incredibly exciting on the other course - Joe Fly rounded just behind SEvenstar SLAM, and they are neck and neck at 18 knots of boatspeed. JF looks like they may be pulling ahead!

Frankly, the festivities blow. This is a great venue for racing, but the partying is weak. We're working on rectifying that situation.

Nope. Haven't seen an outside jibe ever in a Melges. Certainly not here. Kite's small enough that it should never be an issue I suppose.

That's what I thought. Have done a fair bit of SB racing and have never done one either!!

I just read on The Ullman website that they recommend it in less than 5 knots and more than 20!!!

Anyway, keep up the good work!!!

We're back at the dock, just downloading the last videos. Need a drink or six.

FYI: If a video says "no longer available," just give it a few minutes, it's just processing...

Hey Clean....if you are trying to get some interviews, see iff you can get Mickey "the mouse" Schwartz........he'll be good for a laugh.....but you'll need to nail him before he hits the rum too hard.......tell him Andrew from Tortola, BVI is ready for a session with him!

There are plenty of sessions here, but very little rum. Had a chat with our old pal and SAer TKNN about the shite parties here - it'll be on the front page. Micky, and Hutch, of course. I'm saving hutch for later because he's got so much to say.

CLEAN; great job! What a great day at work following the teams with your updates, pics and videos.

Thanks BF - are you any relation to the boat sailing here "Betty Ford?"

BTW got a little dockside chat with Harry, Full Throttle broke 12 inches off their sprit in the second race at the first leeward mark, sailed the downwind leg with it barely holding together, then used a hose clamp to set up a new tack block, and took and 8th in the last race.

We're going to dinner, but we'll leave you with a pic for fun. That's our driver, Eduardo - very good, but he pissed a couple of racers off...more on that later on the front page.

The more the better, especially any specifics on new rigging, tuning, boathandling, etc. techniques that you come across.

Clean,

Awesome coverage man. You are doing a great job.

Can you ask your lovely wife if she can try to get a full side shot of the Joe Fly. Their logo looks awesome in the pics I have seen, but cant seem to find any that shows all the details.

Keep up the great work

MS

Thanks for the compliments bro, much appreciated.

As for the selected pics we choose, we basically take about 60 seconds to go though the hundred or so shots that Mer shoots at every interesting part of the race, pick 10 or 20, and post 'em. There will be a gallery after the week's over with better pics, and considering that JF is one of our sponsors, you can bet that we have a LOT of pics of them from every angle.

They've also got their own photographer and video crew on board their tender. No shortage of pics.

Great shit up for today. One race in about an hour and a half, and then everyone comes in for protests and splits, then back out for one or two more in Gold and Silver fleets. Lots of "bubble" teams down very early at the boats this morning. True Mistral today - 25 knots NNW, should be wet and wild.
