I love how this experience brought out the poet in Seb and Conrad, among others.

I enjoyed his cheesy humor the whole time.  I liked the video that showed him enjoying his coffee sitting on deck on a sunny day moving well with a nice breeze, just a simple and pure moment, the essence of the pleasure of sailing.

Finally the English version...timed his finish perfectly for big canal turnout. The key comes out for the last time to close this edition.

What a great finishing speech Seb just gave!  Hat's off to him and his unbounded spirit of 'just go' and do your best.

I had never heard of him before the race. I have to admit that I found him a little bit "cheesy" at the beginning, with his "welcome to the office" gimmick on each video, etc.

Never saw Destopnews?  That's where the ''welcome to the office'' is from :)

Seb is an absolutely class act- I really enjoyed his race, and that speech at the end demonstrates it perfectly.

Wonder if FaceOcean will finally be put into retirement or does she have one more adventure left in her?

Sarcasm? Fake news? Not sure what tribute means here, as his position is far from that. He seems to say Riou only won because of a problem with Desjoyeaux (?) and out of 4 Vendee Globes has only finished one. As for Le Cam, he doesn't exist and not worth mentioning his name. He even says it is about time Riou tried doing something other than the Vendée Globe and Le Cam is someone he doesn't want to know.

Riou's VG win was a perfectly executed race. One of my favorite wins. Desjoyeaux didn't sail that year.

Ouch, I am not so sure that the whale survived very long. I wonder if they could find some device to scare off the whales (ultrasonic may be?).

Maybe this has already been asked and answered, I can't remember through all the pages here.  Would any of you think that a full length documentary movie, or re cap movie will be in the making since there has been so much advancement in video footage, etc. in this edition?  I bought and replay due to the pure enjoyment of it the movie made from the 2008-09 edition called "Racing Around the World Alone."

I would really like to see that happen for this edition.  Thank you!

Three is a fictional one about the VG called 'En Solitaire'. Fiction, but surprisingly good on the detail. A lot of it was filmed at the start of the 2012 VG in order to get the feel.
There is also 'Beyond 360' on iTunes, YouTube etc., which is about Dee and Anna on the Barcelona World Race.
Not sure of any other movie quality films.

As I understand it from the press. "Mer Agitée" (Mich Desj) who are running the SMA program are developing a design for a daggerboard/foil combination which would easily retrofit into previous generation daggerboard cases.

SMA is going to carry one of those on starboard for the coming TJV (classic daggerboard on port)

Just catching up with this thread and thought I'd share a bit of inside knowledge about Seb's rant. This was no off-the-cuff, sleep-deprivation caused slip up. Seb had planned this for a long time, well at least as long ago as his stop in Port Esperance, Tasmania where he told me what he planned to say. He was seriously pissed off that Vincent Riou had made statements about the amateurs in the slow boats, arguing that they didn't deserve to be in the race. That's what made Seb so determined to finish, because Riou hadn't. His point being that Riou had only finished one race, and failed to finish three, so maybe the win was just luck! Yes, it was sarcasm but it was also anger. And Riou in his response to Seb's rant, could not acknowledge that maybe his comments were what prompted Seb's outburst, merely condescendlingly asserting that Seb was sleep-deprived.

What a great finishing speech Seb just gave!  Hat's off to him and his unbounded spirit of 'just go' and do your best.

The MQ syndicate will probably be a semi low budget one. Jeremie left because his only objective was to win the race. Interesting comment btw about 80% of their customers being female.  Does it mean that women prefer chicken or that they just are the ones going to the grocery store

Who Knows? But the foiler from this year's race has gone to Initiatives Coeur, and why would they have moved that boat on if they were thinking about "low budget" for the 2020 race?
