of all the bitching that i've received about various members here at sa, none have come close to the amount for doug lord. while i personally have no problem with his particular brand of wackiness, a lot of you do here. the final straw came when a certain world champion said he was leaving as he couldn't stand doug. that's it - the tribe has spoken.

Not exactly true. Most ISPs assign dynamic IP addresses by DHCP which can change every time you login. Blocking one IP address just doesn't work. Even with a static IP address you can use a blind proxy to "hide" your source address - I have to do this to see Hulu in Canada. There really is no good way to technically ban people from a site like this. I do this Internet security stuff for a living.

The only real protection against this is the user's overinflated ego - people like Doug want everyone to know who it is, therefore posting as someone else doesn't give them the same thrill. I'm sure Doug has re-registered - but he knows that he has to stay quiet, and that his well-known opinions will "out" him quickly if given. The good news is that the goal of getting him to behave has been accomplished - whether he is here or not.

bill is right, there is a very good chance doug is still with us, but can't speak. he's not banned, just the user name doug lord is, and he can't really post his signature BS as anyone else. He has basicaly been turned from a troll into a lurker, so everybody wins. Please get over it and move on.

I understand that, the situation with doug for me had gotten to the point where i had to leave if he was still around to keep my sanity. I would ignore as much as I could but he had gotten under my skin and I wanted out doug had used my name enough times in a negative way on this board. I wrote to scott and said it was either him or me and, free speech meant I had to leave.

Doug had been disrespecting me for a long time now and I was over it and did not want to have anything to do with it. When I asked to leave, doug had made a personal threat, "i am gonna hunt you down" this felt a little weird (esp since anyone in the US seems to be able to get a gun)

The name calling on his part went farther, the canard, his captain america bs, etc., etc, etc... I could list a lot more stuff that has gone down between us but I swear I never called him anything other than doug or douglas.

I guess if you would rather have doug around I am fine with it. You could listen to him preach the about all his foiling knowledge, when he has done very very very little experience actually doing it. but if that is the case I would be gone and doug could tell you how everything I say is wrong and I dont know anything about anything regarding foiling.

If you notice there is a lot more information sharing among the people who are doing it and the people who have ideas since doug has been excused.

Unfortunately because of this you and other think a lot less of me as a person, I am sorry. I am not one to go around throwing my weight having hissy fits, and I hope if you meet someone that knows me personally they would say the same thing.

I am very grateful to scott in keeping me around and helping me keep my sanity, but I would not be here anymore if doug was.

My enjoyment of these forums has increased with the length of my ignore list. Now if I could just ignore any posts that are a response to someone on my ignore list, I would be in bliss ...and we could then let the DL's of the world say whatever they wanted in true anarchy style.
