You know, I appreciate The Ed's take on the press release/link featured on the (mythical) Front Page, but I have to call BULLSHIT on the specs - these guys claim a 750 lb displacement, with a 375 lb ballast package. That, my friends will be fun to see - the rest of thier deluxo (albiet real skinny) 20 footer, with mast is gonna weigh 375 lbs. Really ? Granted it's goot have about 10 feet of waterline with those overhangs, but still some seriously optimistic construction estimates in my opinion.

Once was a time this site would have called them out on that little piece of blue-sky, but now we have A-M ads, so..... "Hey, ALL these new sailboats are neat !" ( Welcome to the mainstream SA readers)

Who wants to be first to trap off the semi-unstayed rotating carbon rig?

Reading comprehension is hard, Eh INOSR ? - The Ed's arms-length appraisal of the featured design is probably just the right take - this is either one seriously high-tech 20-foot daysailer or these guys are Dreamin' !

One of the best pieces of writing this site ever featured was Scot taking apart the claims of the Columbia 30's early marketing pieces, explaining how a medium-tech boat that size & volume would be extremely unlikely to hit those numbers - I wonder if this isn't likely the same.

But don't let that stop you from joining every thread since you came aboard.

Yep, compare with Viper which also weighs in at 750lbs / 21ft with i think 220 or 230 in the bulb.
But Vip has nothing going on upstairs apart from a v. low freeboard hull & deck.
Then again Vip is foam core and Vinylester/glass skins so there's room for some hi tech weight savings.

Essex - THAT was what I was talking about - a quick reality reference for comparison.

My own piggy-like Impulse 21 weights 1,300 pounds with a 600 # fin keel, which leaves 700 pounds of hull, deck, mast, rudder & hardware - granted it's a twenty-year old boat, but still it also has no accomodation, low freeboard and is a fairly recent-tech in its construction.

With 18 feet of waterline and 8 feet of beam it's alot more boat than the Scan20, but TWICE the hull mass ?
Things that make you go hmmmm...

That and the size of cockpit for "2 adults and a child" - I have good space for that kinda crew on mine and it's cockpit is HUGE in comparison, - and trapping off a flexing unstayed composite spor should be fun too.
