Why not rivets?
1. Nothing else on the boat is riveted, and i like consistency of hardware.
2. I am not a fan of rivets in fiberglass here in the land of freeze/thaw cycles.
3. The coaming 'glass is fairly thick- not a rivet-friendly environment.

I made a bunch of these at least 8.years ago when laminating a gunnel(sp?) and still use them all the time. stupid easy to make and cheap.Low-Buck clamps:
