my god ludde says in part three he has won sydney hobart, what a dead shit

and has he not?

I don't classify line honors as "winning" a Hobart, that achievement is quite insignificant when compared to winning one on handicap.

Any tosser with deep pockets can win line honors..... handicap is where the real competition is. There is only a couple of boats every year that have a chance for line honors, with handicap you are racing the entire fleet.

Is Oatley counted as a tosser in your world?

2006 IRC result was a true prove how well handicap racing works. Within a divison maybe, overall - quite weather dependent one would say.

Did I say Oatley was a tosser? No I did not. He has a lifetime of involvement in the sport and has been extremely generous in his support for Australian yachting from offshore right through to the Olympic classes. I have no doubt he would trade all of his line honors wins for another handicap win.

What was wrong with 2006, a very well sailed old boat winning? Why shouldn't older boats be able to compete with newer ones? One of the real strengths of IRC in my opinion.

I actualy doubt he would trade them. He obviously would like to get both.

Nothing wrong about 06 result, just the boats are so far apart performance wise, sailing in diferent wheather patherns so no one race entire fleet anymore.
Dicusion is somewhere else I think. Has Ludde won the race? has Ellison, Crichton, Wharo won it? Has Oatley won it more than ones in your opinion?

Still not on the Kings Cup entry list and there hasn't been any flurry of media reports about them sailing. Change of plans or the program already off the rails? There was lots of fanfare a few months ago and all very quiet...

Just standard SOP/the usual life cycle for any given incarnation of the program.

Well slap me silly and call me Barbara.

I thought it was retired as a caravan.

So Audi Ultra is back in Marina Bay in Singapore for what looks like corporate sails in a tiny piece of water. Saw them yesterday putting it back in there after sitting around at Sentosa doing nothing. They mentioned they may be doing a regatta in Feb and sort of waiting to see what Genuine Risk is doing.

Any idea when they're sailing? Back up there in 2 and a half weeks.

Not sure, but will be easy to find when you are parked in the middle of the city outside the casino:

They also have a bunch of SB20s with Audi all over them too which they use for sail training and twilights etc at the same spot.

Never any breeze in there though as the buildings are almost 360 degrees around this bay.

But Audi is making lots of money in Singapore, so good thing they are spending some of the profits on sailing.

Tony Mitchell - now where have I heard that name before?

Oh yeah - wasn't he the bloke who shat all over the Fremantle to Bali race a couple of years ago on Freo Doctor?

He owns a TP52 doesn't he?

Edit: The Rolly Tasker Trophy will look good on his mantlepiece, next to the Siska Trophy.
