Denver proved they were a heck of a team, winning a ton of games with Tebow. Why Manning didn't pick the 9'ers? I would suspect having Elway as his boss was key. It's moot now.

Tebow to Miami?

That would be the kind of circus that the clowns running the Dolphins' front office can be expected to provide. I don't blame Manning for wanting to go to work for Horseface instead of this clown car. I was hoping he would end up in Tenn., and that the Dolphins might end up with Hasslebeck. No such luck.

FML. They better not get Tebow.

Bud Adams couldn't close the deal. Maybe he'll go after Teebow now.

Nah. They have Hasslebeck, who can help to groom their qb in waiting. They took a youngster with the number 8 pick in the first round last year. They don't need any more guys who are not ready to play. What I could see happening, since Tebow is a Jacksonville guy and the Jags really need a shot of excitement, is the Jags trading recently signed Chad Henne to the Broncos for Tebow. Horseface gets a backup in case Manning gets hurt, and the Jags get a celebrity, to put people in the seats to boo whenever Gabbert mucks it up.

I would laugh if the Dolphins could close the deal today with Alex Smith, but they won't, and he will go back to the Niners and try to pretend that they didn't try to replace him. Dolphins will end up with Matt Moore at qb again.

They should keep tebow and deputize him under the sheriff. Manning only has two years at best, absolute bust at worst. Tebow is an incredibly valuable qb.

With that offense, the Donkeys would have been better off sticking with Orton (though no one will be smart enough to freely admit that in this godforsaken town) Than sticking with teeblow again. Peyton is gonna run the O and fox the D. If Peyton goes out there is no way in hell Teblow is gonna be able to take the reigns of the new Offense. Look what happened in Indy. Even the trio of Curtis Painter (7) / Dan Orlovsky (5) and Kerry Collins (3) could not do anything after peyton went out.

The latest is that Manning has asked his agent to 'finalize; negotiations with Denver. Worth approximately 95 million. This means Tebow is headed out of town...probably to Jacksonville. So much for the savior.

Traded to who and for what?
The kid is only useful as a quarterback if you completely dumb down the offence so he only has to make one read. It took a couple of games for Fox to realize this and write a Tebow playbook with crayons.

This means Denver CAN NOT use him as a backup for Manning. You need a PHD to be able to make the decisions Manning makes at the line and Tebow can't spell PHD.

So the trade options would be:
a) Take Tebow on as a starter and dumb down the offence? Probably not.
B) Backup for a program where the starter also is one dimensional runner. Philadelphia already has such a backup. Carolina?
c) Third down specialist - way too much cap hit.

Manning in Denver was my prediction, with Timmy going to Miami. The entire state of Florida loves that guy.

Will Denver pick up Dallas Clark? Me thinks so.

Most of those late season wins in Denver were on the shoulders of the defense, so having an actual QB only enhances the prospects for the Broncos.

The 9'ers would have been a better bet for a Super Bowl. But the people running that organization, I suspect, might have given a guy like Manning the creeps. The poor man has had to deal with Irsay for a decade already. Not to mention California in general. John Elway...Denver...not so much.

The best use of Tebow, for the Dolphins, is as another one of our clown-car owner's "celebrity owners." God this is depressing.

Lets go Heat. How about them <Florida> Panthers?

The Heat's offense looked much better this year to me in the few games I've seen. They are not bringing the ball up the floor and looking at each other like "You?" "No, Me?" "No, I insist, after you." "Well...if you insist..wait a minute...here's the ball! Your turn!"

It flows, like they have defined their roles this year, and have a plan.

Now, because Peyton Manning is reportedly going to sign with Denver, Tebow likely won't even make camp. He's damaged goods, marked for sale and thrown into a bargain bin, available to whatever NFL team wants to send a low-round draft pick and a tackling dummy for the right to take Tebow away.

His contract is small enough to sit him on the bench if they have to. Would be the best thing for him, really. He's a project. Give the kid a year or two to learn how to do it right.

Somebody who needs to sell season tickets will probably make an offer though.

I just know he could fire one all the way down to the person sitting in the last seat of even the next row up or down

No, I'm just dumping shit on Manning. I'd be cheering him if he chose Miami, but he chose to go play for horse-face. Fuck them both.

I was just surprised to see so many Gator references from a Miami guy. But if its just dumping on Manning, carry on

Re our college teams, I am a fan of any FL team, and was a huge Cane's fan until they went all thuggy with it. I'll go for any other FL school against UM now; and FSU over anyone but UF.

You were a Cane's fan before they went "thuggy"? I didn't realize you were that old. :D

Unfortunately, I remember all too well when they sucked, and when Howard turned it around. Jim Kelly led the turnaround.

That is the going rate for a Future HOF QB.

Indianapolis got nothing in return for Manning.

Denver got a 4th round pick for Tebow.

In all honesty, why wouldn't the Broncos keep Tebow and let him backup Manning for a couple of years? They aren't paying him much $, he has no trade value at this point, and since McDickface spent a 1st-rd pick on him, we may as well get some mileage. We've already traded Quinn to KC, so who is our backup anyway? They could work Tebow into some goal-line sets and a wild-cat wrinkle or two, all while he learns from a HOF-bound QB how to play the position. Then, if Manning stays healthy, trade him in 2 years for a 1st or 2nd rounder.

The only benefit of trading him would be that someone else would have to deal with Gaytey stalking their team.

Isn't that reason enough?

Elway and the rest of the management want to Tebow problem gone. Elway doesn't think the Broncos can ever win anything with Tebow at QB. He doesn't EVER want fans clamoring for Tebow again. He would trade him for something off the Burger King menu to get rid of him.

Tebow was 3rd round talent to begin with. Now that his limitations are known he is worth a 4th rounder. No way does any amount of riding the bench behind Manning make worth a 2nd or 1st round pick in trade.

Elway clearly doesn't think much of Timmy.

Neither does Joe Namath - "Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl title in 1969, was among those unhappy with the trade.

"I'm just sorry that I can't agree with this situation. I think it's just a publicity stunt. I can't go with it. I think it's wrong," Namath told "The Michael Kay Show" on ESPN1050 in New York. "I don't think they know what they're doing over there."

Asked if he hoped the deal would ultimately fall through, Namath said, "Absolutely."

"And I'm a Tim Tebow fan, but I'm a bigger Jet fan than I am a Tim Tebow fan," Namath said."

But, what do actual Hall of Fame quarterbacks know?

I don't want to get back into this thread too much, but I want to at least have my peace.

I've grown increasingly pissed at the Denver Broncos over the years since McD, and apparently it's an ownership issue. Now Elway is running things to unproven effect, but I think this Manning-for-Tebow swap is going to go down as a big mistake.

I think it's unreasonable to think that Manning can do in Denver what he did in Indy. He had time to help build that offense to the way he coached it, and I don't see him able to do that in Denver. Sure, he's a good qb, but the reason he won Bowls is more accurately due to his supreme adaptability at reading and reacting to plays. Now he's in Denver with a half-broken neck, and who knows what else is going to break next, and he's going to be put into the unenviable position of having to produce an efficient offense without having the correct tools.

At the same time, Tebow was usually a horrific quarterback, doing embarrassing things in that pocket before deciding to throw, spending more time in the pocket doing gymnastics than actually reading plays. He wasn't just bad, he was cringe-worthy bad. Except ... except when he was good. And when he was good he wasn't Cam Newton good, but he was close. He was able to take over an offense in a way that Elway used to do it. And unlike the rest of the qbs in the game, his danger came from the difficulty of defending him. Conventional qbs, (including awesome conventional qbs like Rogers) do what they do in spite of the fact that the defense has studied tape on them and knows with some kind of reasonable assurance how to react. Elites like Rogers are efficient not because they are able to outsmart the defenders, but because they outflank their defenders, they are able to make their plays more quickly than the plays can be defended. But Tebow is a different kind of qb, he plays an organic game that is not usually defensible. In his case, he's the opposite of an elite NFL qb, and he can be beat with superior firepower rather easily, but he's nearly impossible to beat with strategy, because Tebow takes about one of three snaps with apparently no idea where the play is going to go!

Tebow can develop about 80% of what makes elite quarterbacks elite, but he'll eventually build an edge over guys like Newton and Rogers in that he'll still have that edge of unpredictability.

I'm fairly certain that Tebow will see the Superbowl grass long before Manning does, if Manning is even ever able to see it again anyway. A broken neck or whatever else is going to break next isn't terribly compatible with a 16 game march. And when that happens, I'm not quite sure how Elway is going to keep from absorbing much of that blow.

I don't know. In some places, being equated with the likes of the reptile would likely result in a verdict of justifiable homicide.

Different reasons Shags ...

Gator would like a cheese danish if it played for Florida at some point in its career.

I like Tebow because he's a compelling athlete. He has a football intelligence that resembles something I remember in Gary Kubiac, coupled with that athletic ability. Yes, the phenomenon surrounding him is annoying, but letting that overwhelm the interesting parts takes something away from the fun of sports.

The funny part is that based on what you've written, our BMW-loving Mojo friend here actually took it literally, and thinks that Gaston and I are the same guy.

Regardless, you and I work right near each other, so does Ed, Miller and a few others. Why is it that the SoCal, Chesapeake, Florida, Michigan et al. Anarchists have their drinking groups but we don't here in the high country?

I propose a high country anarchist drinking session. What say Shags? Howabout Twin Peaks or maybe Yardhouse or someplace else with functional parking?

Why would the Jets pick up Tebow? I think they are still suffering from the shock of this game.

IIRC, the Jets coach had to be hospitalized after that one. "Indigestion", or something like that.

Two things wrong with that statement. First, I'm just pokin some fun at you. Second, I really don't like BMWs. I've only owned one, a 2009 model, kept it about 18 months, and will likely never buy another.

Uh, no. We have two other German brand cars that we love and a nifty little Nissan mini-suv that I drive about half the time and really enjoy. There are no Chryslers in our future.

I think it's an insult to Teblow to be called the "backup QB" to that choke artist Sanchez. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if HBO got a fat cut from this deal...
