My superficial understanding of Italian culture as a tourist after some 20 visits would say they could take almost anything and make it a grandiose, and especially in Napoli a very passionate, occasion. One of the reasons that I, like JS too w his much deeper experience, predicted that ACWS Napoli is going to be a Big deal.

Just a couple to give the mood - there has been far too much speechifying, (and praying) already in my opinion for the amount of action

That presumably is intended to depict the tormented shade of George Schuyler on hearing of the collusion between Defender and a Challenger in AC34.

Energy has said they want a second AC45. Perhaps they are interested.
So what do you suppose will happen to the Aleph boat ?
It should come in handy at some point as there were no replacment hulls made as far as we know. It could be joined by a few others shortly and become a start to the AC rental and or tourist ride fleet .

Nope, I saw crane cam 1 zoom in down the waterfront just before i posted that. There are a LOT of people out there, beyond the next crane and past what I think is the OR base.^
That must have been a reply from yesterday. I'm watching cams now and there is no activity anywhere.

Maybe someone on site can tell us if that's a sea of people? Saw Oysterhead on here a few minutes ago, X may be there today too.
Those crowd photos where the long line of flag poles are, are pretty amazing for whenever the shots were taken.. and may even have been from a crane tower.

A PARADIGM SHIFT
...
We must be very careful to keep the integrity of the America's Cup in one
piece. It could have been a very easy call some time ago to decide the
AC72s are too hard, and to carry on with the AC45s, and we would have all
these teams in the America's Cup. There was a conscious decision taken for
this not to happen. To me that was an important step. The America's Cup is
a grand event. It is not going to be something that everyone can do. And it
will be in match racing.

Q for LR: what language do you use on the boat, and what phrases do the non-speakers have to know best?Looks like it from his website;
I arrived Tuesday in Naples for the ACWS. See News for photo of AC45s with “Maltese Falcon.”
Any requests for info? I’ll be taking photos and video and interviewing the teams.
