Dinghy anarchists & wanna bee TCC'ers. This is the purposed 2012 Texas Centerboard Circuit schedule... and I mean it is really a tentative schedule (subject to change) for 2012.
Thanks,
FM

Howdy TCC-ers,
After much thought and consideration. I'm thinking this will work pretty good and almost the same as last years schedule. I have heard the date of the 17th of March for Bridge too Far (as of this time it is too shallow besides too far). So it might be likely be a couple of laps around the main body of Stillhouse Hollow lake. OK for this years schedule:
AYC's Opening Day regatta. March 11th
B2F SHSC March 17th
DLMR LBJ April 7th or 8th? Have to relocate the DLMR... to maybe Lake Belton?
Spring Dinghyfest RCYC May 12th and 13th
Summer Solstice Seabrook June 16th & 17th
Long Branch distance race, LCYC July 4th
Centerboard regatta, AYC Sept 1st & 2nd
Waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Clear lake Oct. 6th & 7th?
Fall Dinghyfest, RCYC OCT. 20th & 21st.
Wurstfest, LCYC, Nov. 3rd & 4th.

Total ten events, some of them very tentative, The majority of the dates are either just guessed at and most are still in the draft stage. David, Let me know what ya think of the purposed DLMR date/s. Any comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm really looking forward to a great 2012 circuit.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Ortega,
Yes, I am sure we can add it. Do you have any more information? Is it more then a one day event this year? Would they be willing to have a Portsmouth fleet start. Myself and Harponetta are planning on being out of town from the 18th through the 30th of April.

Nope... nada. I haven't ever used it. Wouldn't 5200 do the trick? I have never used that either since about once a month I hear some poor soul trying remove it on here. I think I got real brave one time and used 4200. But that was a long time ago on someone else's red Contender.

Didn't you find a place up here around Hutto that stocked it? Maybe I'm mistaking.

It is 27-29 april 2012 at CSC, white rock lake, last year portsmouth was won by Big Dave with me in second on my laser hansen and Chris F on his Mx-ray. Is two days of WIND, never been less than 30 last 4 years, very nice peeps and a nice club, etc. I'll be there for sure, a great cause, two years ago, Jobson was guest speaker, very fun!

I'm in for 2012. Even paid my dues and everything.

I haven't seen my boat since Wurstfest. With any luck and a lack of slacking, I'll make it up to the lake on Saturday. Need to bring it home for some repairs and clean-up.

Howdy Y'all,
Some circuit schedule changes I'd like to make everyone aware of. Still somewhat tentative but much closer to a final draft then the last one.

Opening Day regatta, AYC, March 11th
Bridge Too Far, SHSC March 31st
Leukemia Cup, CSC, White Rock lake April 28th & 29th
Spring Dinghyfest RCYC May 12th and 13th
Summer Solstice, SSC, Seabrook June 23rd & 24th
Long Branch distance race, LCYC July 4th
Centerboard regatta, AYC Sept 1st & 2nd
Waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Clear lake Oct. 6th & 7th?
Fall Dinghyfest, RCYC OCT. 20th & 21st.
Wurstfest, LCYC, Nov. 3rd & 4th.

Here is a reply I received from the Summer Solstice Regatta Organizers..... For those that can make it down Friday. The Friday night festivities sound like they might be kinda fun!

Mike, We are going to have the Summer Solstice regatta on the 23rd/24th of June this year. Can you move the date forward by one week on the Texas Centerboard website? Also we plan to start the party on Friday evening with a keg and watching the Kemah fireworks, so get everybody to leave work early and get over to the club! More details to follow as we get ourselves organized.

Rumor has it we will be seeing some hot new boats on the circuit this year!!! Looking forward to a great 2012 season!

OK, food for thought TCC'ers. Looking at the current schedule. I'm trying to figure out when to have the David Luckenbach Memorial Regatta. We've got a couple of weekends open or make it back to back with another event. I want to avoid back to back events. The end of May is Memorial day weekend the 26th or 27th or the first weekend in June, 2nd and 3rd. We can also push it into late July or August which are wide open but likely to be windless and hot as hades.
FM

P.S. We welcome all sailors of centerboard boats (including Weta's) to come join us. You don't have to be a member of the TCC unless you want your scores to count for the season.

Hi Ortega,
That link is what is shown for the event on AYC's website. It isn't shown yet on Regatta networks website yet. I'll see what I can do/find out about that.
FM

DK, Are ya gonna have a centerboard in her by then? Ya got a bit-o-work to do before the 11th of March. It is likely I will be at AYC Sunday or in Austin at least! I'll bring the rudder and spinny. If ya like I will bring the old Contender sail I have too.

p.s. Harpoonette can't wait to see the the flame paint job on the bow!

Dave,
Since boats are referred to as female, wouldn't that make it heterosexual? Unless it's a particularly manly boat, or it went after the wife and you just imagined that it was after you...

April seems a bit light eh? Let's get something added in!

how's about:
DLMR distance @ Belton sponsored by Ultraracer? (free rides on the VX after)
Lap the Maverick 14' sponsored by DaveK?
FishingMikey's Lake McQueeny North American Portsmouth Nats?
Fun Sail sponsored by "The T and A Caberet" benefitting Strippers Without Boundries?
"What The Hell I'd Just Hit" - Regatta at Lake Georgetown?

or just pick a lake with water and see who shows?

Well Gent's,
We are less then three weeks away from the start of the 2012 Texas Centerboard Circuit. Opening Day regatta at AYC on March 11th. Who's planning on going. Any bets on Crumpie having a boat by then? Is DK going to sail his new lead mine Landfill 14' (aka Maverick)? Will Fishingmickey sail to the wrong mark again this year? Will Tortuga "oops" I mean Ortega have mastered the IC? Will Gouvernail finally make the plunge, finish FLIBMO (Fuck You Laser I Built My Own) and join us? All of these questions and more await answering on March 11th at Austin Yacht Club. It will be a great day of racing and fun! Be there, be square!

That's a Vipers number. Just imagine it's a centerboard, you won't know the difference once it's in the water.

Hi Ortega,
I talked to the AYC office yesterday about the lack of NOR and no listing on Regatta Network. I thought I had got a pretty positive response that they were going to look into it.

p.s. If nothing shows up by Monday. I'll call again.

Howdy Everyone,
Here is the registration link for the Opening Day regatta at AYC. Less then two weeks till our first event!

https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_club_events.php?CLUB_ID=580#

DaveK is working on communicating with the PRO to insure that the Weta's get to sail with the Portsmouth fleet. I'm sure he will chime in once he is successful.

I just got off the phone with David Lewis, the event chair. He agrees to have centerboard class and all wetas can race in that class and he will not make the wetas race OD even if we have several show up. Also, there was a portsmouth class in this race last year even though NOR didn't have it.

Where's my wetsuit?!!

There's a centerboard class on regattanetwork now. Planning on being there.

But I have to check my finances before completing the registration. Just spent a bundle last weekend trying to save my puppy and now the heater core on my F150 has blown out and is hemorrhaging coolant; need to get an estimate and make sure I can afford to fix it right away before committing. Sucks to be me.

Thanks, ortega. The core is not much but one has to remove the entire dash to get to it. Looking on-line, stealerships are getting $1000-$1600.

I wonder if any auto or truck rentals come with a tow package.

Understand my friend, if you were near me, could recommend a shop, maybe still can, advise zip code, and good luck on that tow idea, tried every where last year when trying to get my IC here from SF, No-one will rent a tow vehicle. If I can help, don't hesitate, my # is in my profile.

You don't need your heater now Tune, just pinch the hoses off or unhook em and put a "u" fitting with a coupla hose clamps, bypassing the heater core. Deal with it next fall

Yup, yup, yup. Bypassing the core became the new Plan A earlier this evening; reassuring to hear it here. Just need to get under the truck and figure where the hoses run.

Hoses should run thru the passenger side firewall, access them from under the hood. There may be a mixing valve controlled by a vacuum line that flows between the two hoses as well. Get a barbed hose connector and a couple of clamps and get ur ass to Austin.

Hi Tuna,
Regarding your heater core the quick fix if you want just drive-ability without defroster is to loop your hose and bypass the heater core.

So the secret is finally out. Congrats, Crumpie! Just too cool!

If it doesn't already have padding on ama rails, pick up a black foam yoga mat at Academy and cut it down to fit. Your cheeks will thank you.

I looks like an awesome day tomorrow to work on a truck instead of sail. FML.

Hey, I'd like some feed back on Travis for next week. Wondering what the possible course might be. Are the shallows marked pretty well? Some F18 guys were down from AYC last weekend and got me going. No idea if they were yanking my chain or not when they said, "if you're only going four or five knots you should be okay."

Oh don't worry about water. Now that it's so low, it's obvious where and where not to go. The only place to be cautious is the lower right hand corner of the pic crumps posted. You can see the yacht club in the photo to orientate yourself. So that little patch of shallows is just out and to the right of you. We are up a bit still from 625 to 631. LCRA dumped a lot of water out of Buchanan. Just heard on the news that rice farmers get nada water from us this year! Yea!

No, we setup both boats at the water line and then drank beer. It was a bit nippy and puffy. We are headed out now to go sail. It was also a bit crowded down there since there was a huge opti event and another youth regatta with FJ's and lasers. I can't believe all of these opti kids in their dry suits. I wish I grew up as an opti kid.
