I hope so Crump! LOL

It was a fun day chasing you around the lake. My knots kept coming untied on my jibe sheets so I was a bit slow catching you and Mickey upwind. Apparently I can't tie a bowlin anymore. It was suppose to be a 5-10 day but that never happens and this was really a nice 10-15 day with a few puffs around 20. Really nice day and wonderful temps. Thanks for the sail guys!! Really fun to get out after the winter chill!!!

Yea, we practiced today at Big D's lake, it was freakin awesome!. Lovely warm day, maybe 10-12, great fun. When he puts that big kite up, it's see ya later!, the rotten puke! Bring it next weekend, we are!

Please tell me that Krumpie is not already dialed in after only one day on the boat.

Any idea if Apexchaser is going to come out Sunday, Dave? If we're going to be effed, might as well be effed twice, amirite?

Naw... he isn't dialed in yet. He was trying to furl the kite while turning upwind and his furler is tweaked. He'll get there quick though and he was trying to get way forward and get the butt out of the air like his raider. Felipe is not gonna make it though. Going to Florida for Spring Break.

Which reminds me to call Bartlett to make me a set of smaller sails. :P

Don't think it's going to be windy on sunday, unless big d shows up, then it's always crankin! Or no, that's what he says about me; every time we sail in a regatta, it's honking! See y'all soon!

Hello out there. This is a big change from the club that gave peoples money back and told them there was no Portsmouth Fleet because they were to lazy to keep times. Maybe hope out there yet for others to accept us misfits. Nice to have clubs that support all sailing, not just OD. Lets sail. DG

Congrats to Big D for winning Mudfest Opening Day Regatta 2012. I only got my suburban slightly stuck once in the mud. But the sun came out and a slight breeze filled in briefly before dieing completely on the distance course. Red got 2nd in his Weta and Crumps beat me with 3rd in his new Weta as well. I don't even think I corrected over the Fireball. But aside from having zero wind and some mud to play with, it was a great time. Hope the water rises a bit from it.

I've got it freaking everywhere.

I can understand Big D leaving us behind when there's a breeze and he nails the start. Coulda sworn he had a Mirage Drive installed when the wind squatted, though. :D

It was great playing together again. Looking forward to next time.

We were cutting it close! Some of the other clubs on the lake had problems with the lake level, but all we did was to add a little extra cable to the cranes so that we could hoist the boats down.

We are still 1.82 feet below full.

The scratch sheet will be updated ASAP.

Scooter, Are the Weta trimarans invited to sail with the Portsmouth fleet. Do you have current Portsmouth Yardstick numbers for Weta's, IC's and AC canoes? Do you plan on one fleet of Portsmouth boats regardless of numbers. Who is the RCYC person to contact if you are not he or she. Thanks DG

I would have to defer to the guys in charge of the Texas Centerboard Circuit. I am sure they have the most experience with handicapping various boats in portsmouth. Have any Weta's sailed portsmouth on the circuit?

I am open to allowing any boat to sail. I only want it to be fair to all parties. We will try to be as flexible as possible, within reason, to accommodate all boats. If a rating is determined for the weta, then the Weta has the right to attend the regatta and sail to that rating, or not sail.

The current plan is to sail all portsmouth boats in the same fleet. I will be consulting with the TCC on proper protocol as more entries come in and time gets closer.

Of course I'm bias but the Weta's sail much better with the portsmouth fleet as far as speed goes. It's more of a performance dinghy than a mutihull. I've tried to race it with mutlihull fleets and i'm just twice as a slow as everyone. It takes me an hour for what they do in 30 minutes. The original rating by USSA is 78.5 but European numbers, that are at least updated, now have the boat at an equivalent rating of around 84 which more like a Thistle or a Fireball.

DaveK,
I lost my instructions for focusing my cell phone camera.... It might be that a good lens cleaning is in order though :P. Two weeks till Bridge Too Far! Can Big D maintain the momentum? Will Red tuna challenge him? How will the Crumpie do with the Weta if we have some breeze? All these questions and more to be answered on the 31st of March at the Stillhouse Hollow marina. Rumor has it there will be at least one Raider and a Raider II there also.

It was a hoot today out on lake Travis.... Gusts were recorded as high as 30 knots on the point. Damn I hate it when the weather is a week late :P. I had some serious screaming fast reaches and nothing busted. The fore stay pin (3/16) is bent pretty good though,

The lake is up another foot or so. The bottom point is getting smaller. DK, It is now high enough to be Landfill 14' launchable. the Catalina 22's were launching and a J24 launched also but got stuck.

It's blowing snot today. And quit calling it a Landfill! My boat has feelings too ya know. You can call it a flower pot 14 but it's not going to a landfill. I put the rudder on and it looks nice. It even toggles up and down, not that I need that with a fixed keel

5 inches of rain last night right in the sweet spot of the watershed. Travis has already risen 2 feet since yesterday and may rise another 6 or more when done. Yea!!! We can use the boat ramp again!!

Glaze, Rod and his new VX want to come play at Spring Dinghy fest, do you think that would be ok? And Mikey and Crump, you guys put your 2c in also,I'm thinkin it would be great, 'specially after he has his demo day at RCYC soon. We can rate him like the viper, around 68 or so, what ya think?

if the portsmouth group is comfortable with the VX racing against them, then I don't see a problem. We just want to try and avoid getting the fleet too spread out on the course between the fastest and slowest boat.

That's not unusual for that to happen especially when a Dolphin Senior or the like shows up. Just the nature of portsmouth racing. and it's a bitch when that Dolphin corrects over you... :P

Big D just text me this photo from IC midwinters. It's for sale Mickey!!

I wish i could, rush creek is a great club - we love sailing there. Unfortunatly i'm tied up that weekend.

remember - that viper rating was with no bulb and a single trap. Should get some credit back for that on the VX rating. I actually think a portsmouth rating exists.

Might see you guys at the bridge too far next weekend.

Cool, be nice to hoist a cold one with ya Ultra. What do ya think Tortuga? VX @ 68.5? I hate odd numbers like that. Perhaps a even 70 sounds good... yaah, yaaah, Frankie, 70 sounds good to me.

70 sounds about right.

Let's see if they can sail to it as it might be low, as is the Weta's.

I saw that the Hull Yacht Club has the VX rated at 108 vs the Viper'ssss 99.

http://www.hullyc.org/gcr_scratch.php

No idea if it's provisional, but if that number is accurate, that would make DPN=(PHRF+330)/6 = 73.

Just sayin...

Well when the big chute comes out it should be around a 60, 'cause that's what Big D's does! Look at the 29er; 84 until bf5-9, then 78!

I don't think it matters much. From what I saw at canyon there should be a huge disparity between light and heavy air. We launched in the light and were neck and neck with big d in yr heavy atuff.

It's handicap racing, which means it's more about who wins the party (for me). And there ain't no handicap that'll hold me back on that one, bring it!

Well Ultra, Far as i can tell we will have the two Canoes, very possibly three Weta's, I'll be sailing the Contender, Harpoonette & crew on her Harpoon 5.2, Art and Pam on their V15 and I think two Raiders,. One of them being the newer generation Raider Sport II. I suspect Tumble weed will be sailing his Melonseed. I'd suspect we might even have one or two more.

Anybody got a start time for this Saturday's B to F race? Pursuit style like last year?

Yall interested in a "Correctly pick your corrected time correctly" pot, say 5 bucks a boat, closest time wins?

Will the elusive "Gouv" finally show up to a TCC race?

Will Mickey catch a 5 lb bass, or get outfished by Harpooneta?

Will the new Raider owners beat up on the former Raider owner?

Will the Wetas completely clog up the start line?

Who will be lured into the "minefield" of stumps?

Will DaveK finally make an exciting video with funky tunes by bands you never heard of?

Will Big D take it all the way to the finish line for glory this year instead of the boat ramp?

So many questions will be answered this Saturday..........

Yup, not in this crowd, Jeff.

I'm not finding a NOR or registration; nothing on the SHSC site. Just show up? What's it cost? Is there a park entry fee? Guess I need to make sure I bring some cash.

Also wondering if the lake level is up enough to make it to the bridge. TWDB shows it up 10-12 feet in the last week or so at 89% full. The lake looks like it can have a lot of reaching if the wind is right.

Hi Larry,
I seriously doubt there will be anything as formal as a NOR maybe some SI's at the skippers meeting if that. It is looking possible that we will be racing to the bridge and back. I had some activity on the yahoo group page and Derek mentioned that he had contact with SHSC and we are going to have a one o'clock start with a 12:00 skippers meeting. I doubt there will be an entry fee. So to answer your questions.... Yes just show up, I don't think it costs anything. yes there is a park entry fee but often you tell them your here for the regatta or going to the marina you might not have to pay the 3-5 dollar entrance fee. Figure on four hours or so if we have some breeze. Plan on beer drinking and maybe eating at the end of the dock afterwards.

Okay, so two posts about stumps has my attention. As I intend to be in front of you all :P, I need to know where these things are. Is there a better map than this available?

http://www.swf-wc.us...map9.2_2007.pdf

I've planned on being there, but if sailflow is correct I'm not so sure now. Going to take a wait and see. Long way to go for a two knot wind.
