good god man, you're alive!

as such i nominate you as chief safety and hydration officer for this event, and you need to bring the shot gun for a proper start sequence, bonus rippers for you if you can hit a duck while also starting a race close to the right time, penalty for blowing the shape into bits of tattered fabric.

Well, with duck and pheasant season closed I have to hang out here again as the hunting forums have gone all quiet. I gladly and humbly accept the post. If you want the bonus duck we'll have to hold the race after the third Saturday in September and before Jan 15, so probably better to keep the multi-sport aspect limited to sailing, drinking, and the ballet. Plus, despite the legal bounds of Toronto ending at the high water mark, I don't think Toronto's finest would be amused with hunting just off the end of the spit.

I will begin preperations this weekend. Please inform my wife I have important business to take care of and will otherwise occupied.

Dude, it is Canaan with help from Photoshop.
So far the Sicilians have built some shiny molds.
Without being catty, that is the easy part and almost anyone can do that.
I haven't seen anything but reflections come out of them yet.

Steve is probably more interested in rebuilding Aethon. Canaan does not need too much in the way of rebuilding currently, just some spring assembly.

Testing still needed.
1995 wing has had the mast spliced back together.
New tools for making the nose moldings are complete and surfaces are under construction.
With diligence should be on the water for AC45 event in Newport.
Goal is to have two boats sailing this summer.

Thanks for your update on the wing and Aethon! I was there and helped salvage parts of the 1995 wing. It is amazing to me that you were able to splice the mast back together. What is the second boat that you hope to have sailing? Is it cogito or a new platform? Also, any chance of you begininng to post pictures as you did from time to time with the "Fred is in so much trouble" thread. Look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the water in and around Bristol and Newport. Thanks, TTS

Sorry, the plan is to put Cogito in the water as she has been for the last 15 years.
The rebuilt wing will be, I hope, lighter than the 1996 version. And also a bit taller, so it should be no slower.
This will give us a chance to sail the two against each other and start to untangle the Gordian Knot of tradeoffs.
Our thinking is that Cogito is still a competitive platform and that the biggest problem we had in Toronto was the fact that MacLane and I didn't sail very well, and that she was about 25 lbs heavier than Alpha. Alpha and Cogito's platforms weigh just about the same, so the weight is mostly in the wing. Get that close and USA 104 always has a chance to be in the game. Unless I really am right about what we did with Aethon, in which case we consider a different foil package. Or accept the fact that this is one hell of a cougar.

Thanks for the response. I hope that you do get Cogito up to speed because it is a great platform. I did like what you had done with the foil package on Aethon and am curious as to how that will stack up when you have had a good deal more time on the water and done two boat testing. With you rebuilding the Cogito wing, are you making any fundemental changes to it's design and control or is it just the height and weight that you are interested in changing. Also, I know a French Team participated on Patient Lady, have they gone on from that experience to get involved with their own campaign? Beyond your team, Fred's team and the Inviticus team have you heard of others that want to compete in Weymouth? On another note if you need any help on my days off, I would be happy to assist. I am not a carbon master at all, but definately can assist in different tasks. Thanks again, TTS
