I'd spend a couple of years traveling the country with a big f-ing toyhauler. Stuff a boat, motorcycle, and a Rhino in there and spend a couple years messing around North America. I'd send relatives post cards of places I'd been, never where I was.
After that I'd probably build a cool house. Just for a project, then sell it off and go search for something else to keep me entertained.

Really? Compare the expected return on a $1 lottery ticket (I think it's somewhere around $0.40) with the expected return on a $8 ticket to see a movie, which is $0.00.

Same odds, yes, but same return, no, because the pot is split among all those with the winning numbers, and the distribution of numbers played is not random. For example, if a lot of people are in the habit of playing their birthday, then numbers less that 13 will be slightly over represented.

I think you're better off spending that money doubling all of your numbers, on more tickets. I'd rather have more chances at half the prize(or eve less) than less chances at a higher one. I guess it depends on what you figure is "enough" money.

For the sake of a dollar or 2 (compared to the 5 or 6 dollars that a Lottomax costs me back home) it's not a big deal.

For me personally, the "entertainment value" comes from checking them. Every Saturday morning, i run to the store and get the paper and winning numbers, and check my ticket, and my sweeties, with my coffee. That's what's "fun" for me. 2 tickets, twice the fun.

The 7/11 near our house had a line out the door and cars parking out on the street curb this morning. Guessing everyone buying tickets! Geeze. I bought one ticket last year and I bought one ticket this year LOL. Just to say I played at least once.

Though I can honestly say I'm far ahead of the curve given in college the one time I dropped $1 on a ticket I won $500!!! I bought another $1 ticket with the same number and won another $20 then called it quits. Doubt I've spent more than $40 on tickets since.

Wife and I have both said if we ever won 8-10mill after taxes we would retire manage some of our own funds ie money - find some cool community activities to get involved in and spend more time with our kids and family. No big houses - or fancy cars though both of us agreed a nice fast cruiser built for double handed efforts would be on the shopping list LOL.

Just tie it up in investments that have lots of potential sadly sailboats is not a good place to put money lots of truth to that old saying. How do you make a million dollars building sailboats? Spend 2million.

Might be cool to purchase some Bay front property and build a small marina with the intent of hosting some really epic regattas and giving some sailing buddies a great place to keep their boats. That idea sounds pretty good to me.
