I certainly agree with that statement,” said Spartan’s former captain, John Wenz. “I have never sailed anything quite like her. She responds like a nimble modern ocean racer but yet has a solid feel of a classic yacht. She is all thoroughbred and all business. She wants to go fast all the time.”

I had a few tours of Spartan from Andy Giblin at MP&G while they were doing the restoration. Great guys who do fantastic work. The restoration was very dedicated and accurate, going so far as to replace the hex nuts in the frames from an earlier re-framing with square nuts. Haven't seen the finished product, but can imagine it's awesome.

I had a few tours of Spartan from Andy Giblin at MP&G while they were doing the restoration. Great guys who do fantastic work. The restoration was very dedicated and accurate, going so far as to replace the hex nuts in the frames from an earlier re-framing with square nuts. Haven't seen the finished product, but can imagine it's awesome.
