If the Cup was handed to the most talented team, the Pens, Canucks, Caps or Red Wings would win every single year. Fight and grit have their place in hockey, and a big place at that.

Puck drops at 7:30 ET with the Pens and Flyers. I'm clearing my schedule and stocking the beer-section of my fridge.

Playoffs!! Can I get a 'fuck yeah'?

As long as Winnipeg is in the Southeast, and realignment looms, you have a good shot. Realignment without adding a team in the East and a team in the West is going to be nearly impossible.

Is Shea Weber that stupid? time running out, punches Zetterberg in the back of the head (ok that could be part of a hockey play) but then slams his face into the boards. I hope Shanahan has the balls to treat this the same as he would have in the regular season.

The punch was fine, but the second effort was not cool. I honestly don't think he'll get anything. If he does, a fine or maybe one game, max.

Wow, where did Pittsburg go after the first period?

All hail King Henrik ... but, Andy can be an insanely effective goalie when his defense is there, and the Sens have something this season. Don't underestimate the first round.

I saw more guys get separated from their skates tonight than I have in the last month of the regular season. w00t!

Also, I'm not sure if LA looks really good, or Vancouver looks very shaky.

17 minutes of penalty time? fuck. those delay of game penalties were brutal, 5 minute major, sedin sitting on the bench watching kessler/burrows kill penalties...that will make any opponent look good. having said that LA has quick doughty, kopitar, williams, carter and richards, that's pretty high end talent.

Nasty hit on Alfredsson. The players don't seem to have got the message.

Still have faith in my Canucks. They've lost two, but they were somewhat strange games. LA is a disciplined bunch. Vigneault may play Schneider just to do something different. Can't blame Lou at all.

The chaos in the East takes a shit all over what is neat and tidy. The Sens intend to crash this cocktail party.

I was thinking the same thing as I watched Neal illegally run Giroux (and Couturier). If Shanahan doesn't sit him down for game four, my guess is, Simmonds will.

I am no Crosby hater, but he was playing like an angry child today. Not very Captian like.

Epic, haven't seen that kind of total penalty minutes in a while.

Philadelphia pulled some clearly disrespectful crap, but so did the Pens. I think it was clear that Crosby is unfairly on the receiving edge of some unneeded bs to throw off his game ... he's talented enough not to take the bait, but he does it anyway. I understand why Crosby perhaps felt it necessary to change the momentum, but they're cooked, and that just pushed them over the edge to burnt.

Unfortunately Pittsburgh's goal tending has also been brutal,

If the team has little confidence in their goalie, their in real trouble,

Pittsburgh's goal tender has to steal the next game, for his team, regardless of how the team plays in front of him. ;)

With the exception of Pikka Rinne and Elliot/Halak, all the real interesting tending is happening in the East ... Theo in Florida, Andy in Ottawa, King Henrick, Flower.

Then with the fights, total of four games suspension with the Sens-Rangers series, pretty cool, suddenly Eastern Hockey looks like Western Hockey used to ... undisciplined and explosive.

Vancouver swept in four???

I never thought i would have to say that, but it looks like its coming, like a freight train.

Now who plays in net for Vancouver's next game?

I would go Schneider, as he's more stable under pressure.....

Luongo has played very well, but when under pressure, he loses his focus much easier......;)

Canucks were up 3-0 on the Hawks last year...they've seen this movie before. A goal or two past Quick, LA starts squeezing their sticks, and voila--game 7 here we come.

Hey--one has to believe.

This series is really punctuating the point Pittsburgh's critics have been making: they feel entitled, are arrogant and are one of the cheapest/dirtiest teams in the league.

Really disappointing.

Making any effort to equate the two team's behavior in this game is stupid- Pittsburgh were the spoiled brats who always feel put upon. Wankers all.

I missed that part. Please refresh my memory on specific instances where they instigated cheap and/or disrespectful play in that game.

Just minor stuff, they did a good job of not getting drawn into the muck,.Timonen probably could have kept playing, but I agree that he didn't seem to instigate.

Not for nothing Meat, but didn't you have the Pens on this one? I had the Flyers, as far as I'm concerned, I would have rather seen another Flyers goal over toeing up.

Yeah, oops! :D If the Pens and Nucks go down in 4, it will pretty much screw a lot of playoff pools.

Kinda coincidental ... I was just waiting on line at the sandwich cart and the old man in front of me ordered too many sandwiches, so I pulled a Crosby and hit him in the back of the knees with a sonotube packed with gravel.

Daniel comes back and they win three straight. Then, they vanquish the Sharks, who will have their roster greatly depleted following the battle with the Blues. After that, a hard fought 6 game win over the Preds (again) as Kesler comes alive. And then, to top it all off, beat the Rangers in 5. You heard it here first!

Likely? No. Possible? Certainly.

Some girl in front at Dunkin ordered such a complicated coffee that it took the cashier two tries to make it and it made me last to class, so I pulled a Crosby and threw a handful of Splenda in her eyes.

Wow, good job.

I was trying to get to work on time this morning but I was stuck behind some slowpoke in a BMW crossover vehicle. So I waited until the road came close to a cliff, then I pulled a Crosby and ran him off the road and laughed when his vehicle plunged onto the rocks below and exploded in a fireball.

a guy offered me $50 to wax his 36 ft. boat, so I pulled a Crosby on him and shit in his drivers seat when he wasn't looking, then I went home and watched the Rangers beat the fucking Senators....go King Henrik

Hats off, you just pulled a Crosby on both lazy boat owners and Sens fans.

I'm really going to miss the Rangers when Andy pulls a Crosby on King Henrik.

Philly should put there goon out at center and have him take Ryan Howard like swing straight into Crosbys face to start the game after all the shit that happened tonight.

Maybe they can get Wilf Paiment to come out of retirement.

5,4,3,2,1 Yeah Mike I went there again.

4 games for Asham, 1 game for Neal.

I rescind my previous note of confidence in Shannahan.
I get that it's the playoffs and things are different, but they can't be THAT different. Asham should be down for a dozen. Neal down for 4. (yes, the one game ends his season, I get that too)

The part I don't get is how Asham gets four and Backstrom gets one....for the same action. His consistency needs to be tuned up.

Dunno about short lived, Theo seems to have what he needs to do his job this time. He's stopping pucks like the MVP goalie he is, with two solid lines.

Y'know, if he had attacked anyone other than Polo his career would have been over after that, being about a step away from attempted murder. But since it was Dennis Polonich, he instead faced the understanding that he was just the idiot who let it get to him.

Anyway, didn't those two guys play together on the Lumberjacks for a few games?

Aside ... I knew about Polo even as a tiny kid. In grade school we received little flimsy books to bring home and improve our reading skills. I received one on the Apollo missions, one on Oscar Robertson and one on Dennis Polonich, the point of the book being that even little guys can be tough.

He was a bit of a hero to me, especially one famous fight where he beat the hell out a defenseman twice his size. I liked the idea of being able to beat up bullies much bigger than me. Never was able to do it,.but I liked the idea.
