I have some family business to attend to next Monday, so I will be flying into Miami and have the day free. I am looking forward to visiting the Volvo boats. I had hoped to also find a sailing store with a good selection of foul weather gear. I don't have much of a choice where I live, and I'm not an easy size (short and fat) so I don't want to just order online not knowing if the stuff will fit. I figured some SA'er could poi9nt me to a good source.

I'm not aware of a really good chandlery in the Miami area. Your best choice is the new Ft Lauderdale West Marine. Last time I was in there they had - Gill, Henri-Lloyd, Musto, and Zhik in stock.

South Florida is not known for an area that needs foul weather gear. Hopkins Carter carries Gill. Atlantis is in a few shops. If you are looking to try on different sizes for different brands you will have to go to West Marine in Fort Lauderdale. It is the "Flagship" store for West Marine. Good Luck.

Send a PM to Some Dude. He is short and fat and has appropriate apparel in his store at the waterfront in Miami.

Thanks for your replies. The west marine store where I am keeps a very small amount of stuff in stock. It kind of pisses me off whenever I want something they tell me that they can order it for me. They will only have one type of jacket, maybe 2 types of pants...and in a very limited size range. I'm also trying to outfit my teenage kids who should be much easier to fit, but the stores don't stock enough sizes. Ill have to get myself over to Ft Lauderdale I guess.

Not sure about the quality of the gear, but there's now a "Camper" Store on the Lincoln Rd mall in South Beach and they had a full compliment of team apparell made by Musto. Not "value priced" mind you, but if you're looking for something unique to serve as a souvenier of the event along with being reasonably decent kit, that may be a visit to make.
Hopkins Carter out by the Airport carries Gill foulies too.

I have been into the Camper store in Adventura and they don't carry foul weather gear, they carry the line of Camper Shoes and have a few musto t-shirts on the wall along with a light jacket or 2. Cool store just not worth stopping at if you are looking for gear.
