bingo, we have a winner. Looks like core shear.

asked my structural guru what he reckoned and its right behind where the chainplate patchings will be, and then probably the transverse unis picking up keel loads run up there as well so that would be a potential shear point - which is exactly what it looks like.

Sure, it's a humiliating failure that's going to cause any crew to raise their eyebrows and gracefully back out of any future invitations to sail onboard. Sure, the value of the thing has passed through zero and is best represented by the cost to salvage, the cost to repair and the cost to change the name and paint job on the off chance that some idiot will snap it up for, say, 150K Euros. Sure, the owner is fuming, the skipper is pissed, the designer wishes it sank and the builder is saying "I tried to tell you as much" ... but it's definitely not "fucked".
How about toast? Can we agree it's toast?
Sheesh

Uh... I think it needs a little more than that!
The primary load-bearing structure of the box-beam (hull/deck monocoque) is about as compromised as it can get without the front falling off.
I'm pretty sure the best course would be to strip off everything then tow it outside of the environment and let the front fall off.

Without the keel attached, the thing will only have a draught of 2 foot! Im sure there is a franna on the island or a large tree near the shore line!
Easy! Im available for the job if its 2 hard!

Next time there's a cargo ship in they could lift it out of the boat. and doesn't it have a lifting keel anyway? Maybe the centre case is holding the boat together. There is nowhere on the Island to bring her into shore where a crane could reach her to lift the mast.

And according to the write up on the FYD site the mast is deck stepped so with a bit of creativity it could be dropped without a crane.

Any idea how much it would cost to get Elvis there? Though it could probably carry the boat back - if it could carry enough fuel.Next time there's a cargo ship in they could lift it out of the boat.

It could carry it but could it be modified to use it? In the US, this would require a lot of paperwork to add aux fuel tanks and have them approved; six to eight weeks would be lightning fast. If credible people are patching it and they have a shepherd boat for the trip home...why not? With the right prep and precautions, it would not be that risky. It can carry a lot of anything - fuel?

Have you morons caught up with the train of the thread yet? Is 2 posts in a row all your addled brains can cope with?
The train of the thread was about the possibility of taking the boat out by helicopter. That ain't gunna happen! Do you have helicopters in NZ? or are you still using balloons? Hot air is in great supply over there, so that is feasable.

It is a Kiwi thing to hint at what might be happening when in fact it is all bullshit. Makes it easy to say "I never said that" when the hints are found to be untrue. Happens too often with you guys.

Well I guess my air tickets are not real and Rodney Keenan is not going on the confirmed tickets. Are your drinks always half full?
Why are you so full of bullshit? Why can't you answer a straight question? You are too evasive & slippery to be believable. Cut the crap and answer the question What, if any, was your involvment with the boat in the past? Why is that too hard to answer? Why do you keep it a secret?

HAHA PP is'nt the Yard Arm all allways in favour of a drink or 2Just like an Aussie weekend Johnny except it happens a 2-3 hours earlier (DST depending)....which really sucks come Friday arvo drinks after work but works very well for a pre race beer on Saturday morning before the race...afterall it's over the yardarm in NZ
Beau Geste is afloat and has had a repair and is waiting for an appproriate weather window which may happen over the NZ weekend
WTF is a NZ weekend?
JS you have simply lost the plot give up now, the front may fall off your boat but not this one apparantly, however or which ever way they intend to get the boat to where-ever fair winds and hope to see her on the water soon .....

It's not going to happen.
Who told you that?
Nobody.
Anyone with any brains would know it ain't gunna happen.
Anyone with any brains? Are you presumptious enough to include yourself in that?
Poor Johnny is so far out of the loop on this one. He's too fucking old to masturbate anymore so stirring up this sort of shit on the internet is the only pleasure the poor old codger has left in life. Sit back and watch what happens Johnny - the pros are taking over!

JS wouldn't answer a direct question, and then goes off when his question is ignored.
Trolling hypocrisy at its finest.
Well done Johnny!

This is a boat that only got to NI because of some very capable people on board. This fuckwit "thetruth" claims he is going to NI. He is NOT claiming he is doing the delivery. He is very much one of those slippery cunts (like you) who cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Only hints at doing "great" things and leaves everyone to asume he's doing something he is not.
This is a boat that may not survive the delivery - otherwise it would not have an attendant rescue vessel. The prospect of that being required at midnight in the weather going their way is not appealing. People could die. I hope not, but there is no fucking way I would take on the delivery of that boat for any amount of money, especially when you look at what is going thru Perth right now.

Funny how many Bassa replies are on this. A Kiwi boatbuilder has done a repair and a few Kiwis (and a token Kiwi) will sail it back. Simple really.
Take notes, and photos! Safe trip!
