Orma 60 5.3 x 17.6 = 93.2 T.m but I believe they reduced the beam on the Artemis boat when they fitted the longer hulls.

Having read a lot of ORMA spec sheets in yachting media, typical weight in recent boats has been published at 5.2-6.0t. I'd suggest you don't give much credence to the lower end of these weights - empty weight is much more likely to be ~6.0t, similar to the older ORMAs. There have been hull/mast weight savings since 1990s, but also increases in width & complexity (hydraulics, etc). Also, if you compare published weight and race results there isn't much correlation, which doesn't make sense, especially on a multihull (i.e. 5.2t boat should easily beat a 6.0t+ boat) - further indication that published weights include lots of smoke & mirrors.

The sailing weight is full Cat 1 race trim, including sails, rafts, first aid kits............
Unfortunately we just found out last week that Team Australia won't be turning up for any of the racing in the Whitsundays.
Most disappointed.

I am somewhat disappointed that I find this out now with our boat in Airlie, and not in one of the previous conversations we have had.
Oh well should make keeping our title easier I guess.
Disappointed!

with the way they struggle for sailing sponsors
then you realize it's not sailing that struggles

To be fair, I know sponsors are really tough to find everywhere at the moment. I think we were just really fortunate that we have such a great main sponsor onboard.
That said I think sailing probably holds a higher place on the ladder of sports in NZ than it does in Australia.
Interesting too, that probably half the new performance boats appearing in NZ would be multis of one form or other. Sure they are an eclectic bunch of boats, but quite a number of kiwi sailors are getting exposure to speedy multi sailing. Sure we dont have a maxi fleet (all our old shitters are now in Aussie) but we have multi fleets bigger and much more compeditive than the Airlie Beach race week multi fleet, racing in Auckland every week.

I noticed Langman not using his boards on Sunday. I wonder is it just a bit of laziness...? Boat was very nose down a lot of the time.

it would appear you were not looking as we did use the foils running down the harbor in pressure reaching at 100-120deg, they are not needed upwind in 15kts breeze

So what's the story on Airlie still coming or scared of the Kiwis?

Fair call and thanks for that. It was up wind or a least slightly eased a couple times i noticed and on the reaches the breeze was moving all over the place and under 15kts other than the one cloud at about 1.00pm.
Are the boards moveable under load..? What was your hi speeds numbers in what wind strength generally on Sunday..?
You all looked nice and relaxed so i'm gathering it was just a muck around..? Did i notice Tacka there in the crew..?
