There was, but not so sure if anything has came of it yet... The boats sponsored by Dubai 2020 expo

The boat is operated by the Green Dragon Academy and has a crew of a few talented young Irish sailors, and a young Kiwi alongside some pros to oversee safety. I had the privilege to sail with the team from Lisbon to Dublin a few weeks ago. Both watch captains were under 21, and did a great job of managing the boat and crew for 1000 miles of upwind sailing, most of it in 20-30 kts. More to come from this program, and I hope to be a part of it!

The Round Ireland yellowbrick tracker is available here. Light winds seems to have hampered them so far. Tonnerre is on top of them. The VOR 70 to be fair is designed for offshore where they can sail to the weather, not a coastal race.

Jeez the Cookson 50 Lee Overlay Partners (the Ex Altana Chieftain) is only 3.75nm behind the Dragon and their about a third of the way round.....

Inismor, a Ker 39 leading in IRC. Green Dragon currently 28 out of 36 in IRC. 2nd in canting keel behind the Cookson 50. On estimated corrected time will be 24 hours adrift at the finish in the Canting Keel class behind the Cookson.

Under 10, she's like driving a dump truck without power steering. If there's enough breeze and angle to make the Zero work, though, it's a while new game. The dragon is doing a good 11 knots now and pulling ahead. The goal was an outright record, not an IRC win, but that is in the hands of the winds......

Tonnere is still only 3 miles or so behind, And it's an upwind race to Wicklow now. Seems to me it'll finish this way, or very close to it.
