My KVH Quadro system is finally giving up the ghost, it appears, and I'm in the market to scrap and replace it with something more contemporary.

I think I'm fairly up to speed with respect to Nexus, NKE, and a few other 'mid-range' offerings, but I'm curious if anyone is using the TackTick Wireless Performance systems, and what their satisfaction with them.

Been using the MN100 series for 4 or 5 years now and it all works using the NMEA interface to and from our nav software.

But we've had some issues.

The remote handheld unit failed and was repaired under warranty. Screen went dull and very hard to read.

T908 GPS unit recently looked like it had died - but ended up being the internal Lithium battery went flat and the unit defaulted to 9600 baud - not 4800 like the manual said it should.
Hence data out was not NMEA compliant - Connected it to a PC and tried it at 9600 baud and it found it was sending data OK - Replaced the PCB battery (0 volts) (PCB solder job and $3 battery) reprogrammed it back to 4800 baud and it's back in action.

Also had a total system reset issue during an multi day offshore on day 2 - Which required a complete system reset to get it all reconnected and paired again mid ocean - ie Will it re-sync - do we have data to display - which has not re-occurred since.

There is also supposed to be an issue with the T111 & T112 displays re battery replacement - we've not had that one yet !!!
But we're very diligent about not letting them go flat during the non-sailing season.

We also find the wind indicator electronic arrow on the T112 is pretty ordinary and VERY hard to read at night
So we use the T111 dual display or remote display to show the AWA numbers at night as it's easier to read and pretty responsive to fluctuations
I think they've changed the thickness of the arrow now - but consider purchasing 2 x T111's instead of the analogue wind indicator.

Other than that
We like the wireless masthead unit for the lack of weight and no wires required aloft

But I'd like to see their QA standards improve a bit before I did re-purchase.

Great product review isn't it ;)

Trust that helps.
