My 2 boys sail Opti's here in Sydney Aussie. Unfortunately I couldn't get out of a family commitment in Florida so they will miss our Nationals in Tasmania in January. Had a look on IODA and saw the Orange Bowl is on every year been xmas and New Years. Got the green light from the wife. What's the regatta like? How cold does it get at that time of year and how much breeze is there?

Extremely large regatta, hundreds of Optis, 420s and4.7s, Radials and Full rigs. Beautiful venue, usually nice breeze and warm. Parking at the venue can be challenging, book a hotel within walking distance. Regatta is generally well run. Lot's of fun on and off the water.

Very warm (by Canadian standards). You can expect anywhere from 5C to 30C. 5C only if there is a major system coming thru, which happened in the 09/10 year.
It is a very large, well run event. Very worthwhile if you're in the area!

Contact Tackleshack or Sturgis Boat Works for a charter Opti hull.

Marriott Residence Inn is a good bet (within walking distance).
