I'm considering replacing the gasket on one of my Lewmar Medium profile hatches (size 70). The documentation is clear enough, but goes on at some length about the difficulty, potential for damage and need to replace the hinge pins. Of course I only have the gasket, not replacement hinge pins.
Anybody ever replaced a gasket on a Lewmar Medium profile hatch?

I'd suggest sending a note to Tony or Tom at selectplastics.com. They recondition these hatches and can give you the removal steps.
They made my 19 year-old hatch look like new and it was cheaper than a new one (and the new ones wouldn't have fit anyway). Highly recommended.

The hatches come in two halves - there is a mild steel joining pin that joins each half and is inserted in the alu profiles - before you attempt to separate the two halves check that the pins are not damaged in any way. If there is any gap or movement between the alu frames in the join then they toast.
The internal pin is a very vunerable component (and expensive for what they are) and breaks easily with crew stepping on the hatches when they are left partly open for ventilation. You may also experience corrosion issues with the pins and the stainless screws which may make it difficult to separate the two halves of the frame.
Once the two halves are separated, ensure you note which way up the gasket goes as it comes apart. I found that by cleaning the gasket well it could be re-used. The existing gasket may have broken at the join but this can be easily fixed wituh a good contact adhesive. Ensure you also clean the alu frames and the plexiglass as well before re-assembly.
Check condition of the aforesaid hinge pins - they disassemble using an allen key to rotate them from memory - unusual for these to need replacement unless the hatch has been poorly treated. They have some decorative plastic covers which may or may not have.
Also remove the hatch closing handles and support bracket, clean and re-install with a silicon grease/vaselene or similiar. There could be an "O" ring in the handles which may need replacement.
Good luck
