As usual once Oats finishes the race is over!

And no I'm not some disgruntled half toner sailor,  I have had a line honours in this race,  I just believe that there are good stories all the way down the fleet.

Yup..

I'm not even going to bother looking at that video. It'll be the same shite as every other year Oats participated.

Bill E Goat is lying. It's a 25 minute wankfest of wild oats with absolutely no previously unreleased video footage or coverage of any boat besides WOXI. Their performance in getting the treble was impressive but so were the stories of the OCL and Calm crews.

I don't believe you.  They always start with promise - lots of nice shots of bigs boats moving fast.... but then they stay there.

Actually, that video isn't total shite.... there are a few shots of Maluka, Jazz, Ichi Ban and boats less than 100' long.

Ok... you sucked me in.

It is much better than previous oats-vertising..  I counted at least 6 boats in the race.

OK Swanno, you've baited the hook, I'll bight   ;)

Just for the handful of you that haven't seen it, here's the video story from the other end of town.  One of the smallest boats in the race, 7 blokes out for their first S2H & first Cat 1 race.

Thanks Poddle - a good capture of the race.

And wasn't that damn spectator catermaran on the course at turn 1 a pain the @#^& with all of us having to go down to avoid him.

Nice video , brings back some fond memories of smashing down there in a Farr 40 ior lol

@3:04 it looks like you may need to move your reef tie off point on the boom forward and grind more reef line into it to get the clew down closer to the boom and tie up the slab that's not being used , it does help with the trim ;)

Ha ha, noted!  The problem with 2nd reef points is it is so rare & difficult to test their actual "shape" in anger!  That was the 1st time we'd use that one in that sail - new 10mm spectra reefing line, gee we had some sheetload of load in it.  I think we added another safety tie to it later.  We don't like having guys hanging onto / working on the boom / main in those conditions unless it is really required.

Now that I've suckered you all in, here's 40min of your life you won't get back if you want to see the complete start sequence, to the initial bash down the coast.  Relive that entire "WTF" moment when that big cat decided to drift in front of the 2nd line fleet.  Just like a typical day racing on Melville Water in Perth!
