the one thing that can be assured is that there will be a pressure ridge situated such that the entire fleet escapes north EXCEPT all of the T-10's which will be left bobbing on the lake until they give up wed midday...or am I just hatin'
At least we will be ahead of the J30s.....oh damn!

"High pressure will be moving south and east of Lake Michigan on Saturday morning. A weak SW'ly flow is forecast to develop across most of the ...lake at first, but local SE'ly lake breezes are expected to develop along the IL and WI shores during Saturday afternoon. Overnight Saturday and into Sunday, the high pressure moves further east and the SW flow returns overnight Saturday and into Sunday. This SW'ly wind will build with time and could provide a relatively quickly running breeze of fresh
15-20 knot winds on Sunday over the northern two-thirds of the lake.
We are watching a low pressure which is expected to move east across Ontario north of Lake Superior on Sunday, with a trailing cold front likely to move south-southeast across Superior and into northern Lake Michigan sometime on Sunday or Monday. There is considerable uncertainty on the timing of this important weather feature. The front is expected to shift winds from moderate/fresh SW'lies to a moderate N or possible NE winds as it moves south across the Straits and northern Lake Michigan. Timing on this front moving into the race area ranges from as early as mid-day Sunday to as late as Monday morning. With such a wide disparity in the forecast models, this front is developing as the key weather feature to watch for the race.
Weather-wise, the start and first 24 hours of the race look benign.
Increasing risks of showers and thunderstorms will be encountered over the northern half of third of the lake, especially Sunday afternoon through Monday. The details on this action await further confidence in the forecast regarding the movement of the front south out of upper MI and into the lake Sunday/Monday."

Still 12:50 for the J/111s. So no change this week.

Part 3 is just a half hour of videos, including a few live call-ins from the boats already started and some ideas about possible plans for groundbreaking, all-race live coverage for next year's race. Enjoy.

You got Geronimo in Section 5 listed at 0.821. He should be at 0.917. There are 2 Geronimos in the race, one in Section 5 and one in Section 8 (which is the one that is 0.821).

edit: nasty-ass flies not nasty ass flies... Though I am sure some of our crew will draw the ass flies.
Just curious: would there be a fly that you would call an ass fly that wouldn't be nasty?
- or - what would make nasty ass flies worse than regular ass flies?

I'm sorry but 2 rules to this race. Do not get to far inland behind pt. Betsie and do not get caught in the lee of the islands. I knew that when I was 17 in the 80's.

Photos from onboard with her pacing the Carcrceek 40 and ahead of Mainstreet at sunset are just nuts. That boat is flying! GTFP!!!It looks like Peerless is within 5 miles of the STP 65 and ahead of the TP 52. Pretty impressive for a 32 ft boat to be mixed in with the 70 footers with less than 70 miles to go.

I have a big problem with Infinite Diversion. Loaded up with top racing sailors, doing a cruising race. What up with that? I even have a good friend on the boat. I thought they were racing, till I saw them in cruising section.
Had a poke around...It certainly is about as far from race boat as you can get. She just finished I think...plenty quick, sure, but how do you race a 60 footer with just four tiny powered winches?

Not sure what you're saying here. Unless standings and times need tweeking yet.Vanda 3 could have made it the trifecta if they sailed OD.
They are 4th in their division, and had they chose to race OD instead of handicap mish-mash they'd be 2nd to Realt in that division, and that OD section.
Yes, they are 1st in that non-OD section.
What trifecta?

Which is kind of funny, considering who Stew sailed with and that outcome...
