You would have to imagine that they are working on a racing 43-45 ft,

and a racing replacement for J92S,

and then maybe a 35/38 footer as a cruiser racer to take over from 109/108 for people who wnat soem comfort while they race.

will be intersting to see if the success of the 111 heralds a new 90 and new 145.........

In the current economic situation I would be very careful before launching a cruiser/racer of this size? It's a crowded segment and competitors with in-house production is agressive/desperate on the market.

A bigger sister to the J/111 would be a different thing, since this is it's own segment. But it couldn't be called a J/133 replacement, even if I'm sure some of the 133 owners would like a sportier ride :D

J/Boats first foray into canting keel technology.

Nope. Much as I like the 97, its a small J/109, not a smaller J/111. I'd love to see a boat that splits the range between J/70 and J/111.

J95 and 97 fulfll a cruiser racer brief, that does well on IRC, and you take your choice on what depths you sail in for which works best; lifting keel and drying out or not..

a new 29 to 33 footer with somewhere to sleep below, maybe even a small head (?), but no standing headroom, low freeboard, a big open cockpit with no seats, narrow on the beam, 2m bowsprit and masthead kites with a non-overlapping sail plan......isn't that the J90?

I read on the internet, so it must be true, J/Boats is running out of numbers and may soon have to resort to decimal numbers, which their design and marketing people have to gear up for first.

The next boat will be the 134.125, that's just what I heard anyways...

I guess I don't see a huge need for a 133 replacement.

i think the market for a scaled-up 111 would be tiny - remember that the 111 is supposed to be mostly a one-design race boat, and I think one-design boats bigger than the 111 typically have a hard time getting established.., at least in the USA.

Racing at that size, is typically IRC or PHRF, and the 133 can do well under either system.

Buyers looking for a real race boat at 40ft or bigger will be looking at Farr, Ker, Soto etc., not Jboats. At this size, Jboats builds cruiser/racers, and in spite of the comments about the 133's performance, it is about as powered-up as anyone buying a 43ft cruiser/racer actually wants.

If they are not selling new 133's, it is probably because the used ones are going for under $300K

On the other hand, I have heard that X-yachts have sold over 40 of their new Xp 44 model in one year, mostly in the tall-rig version. The Xp 44 is nothing like a bigger 111..., it displaces 20,000lbs, and was designed with IRC in mind. The interior seems pretty luxurious for a "performance" boat. really, it is a cruising boat, that can race..., not a race boat.

If I were buying a new cruiser/racer in that size, I would be strongly considering the Xp 44, and probably not be considering the 133 at all.

so..., maybe I've convinced myself that Jboats does need a new model (but not a scaled up 111), if they want to compete in that market segment.

It would have to have a marine head for the warden to approve. And enough stability to doublehand. A J/90 with a (real) head would fit the bill. If J/Boats builds a 30ish J/111 we'll be hard pressed not to buy (the 92s, 95, 97 are just a little slow for our tastes)...we like to race & daysail, don't want a lot of creature comforts/weight.

I wish I could afford the initial and ongoing costs of a J/111...looks about perfect for us.
