Hey there folks...

I have a complete set of ockams on the boat that appear to need serious care and feeding (nothing really works except the compass, needs a new wind transducer). This is the old school system with the chips. Anyone have experience with getting an older system back up to snuff?? Is it even worth it?

Thoughs?

Probably still has a lot of residual value, especially if you have polars (performance module) for the boat.
Should be able to get system up to snuff for much less than a new system with similar horsepower.
If you only cruise, doesn't matter. Get a windex and taffrail log.

If you can find someone with a system (old or new) and switch out parts to see which ones work that would be a start. Check the cabeling and BNC's first.

+1 The old BNC Style connectors (esp the screw on type) and t-connectors are prone to problems. Since everything is daisy chained together, one break can keep a lot of parts from working.

Plan B: Part the system out. Displays and modules are still worth $$$ to people maintaining old systems.

I got some new LCD's and backlight bulbs for ours and they work great. Like was said above, make sure that all the connections are clean and good. You an easily get a new wind trands., Signets work well with the Ockams. Why do you think that trandsucer is bad?

Depends on where you are as far as where to take it or get help.
