HPDO looks like an interesting line up of sport boats. (Probably should include 4 Tempests in that line up as the precursor to the modern sport boat)
+ the I14s, Moths, 5-0-5s, Fireballs, 49ers, Wetas, Intl Canoes and F18s
Should make for a good spectacle.
HPDO seems to have grown into a destination regatta for the fast boat community in the North East.

I have a friend who keeps his sport fishing boat in Stamford, CT. Depending on weather , we may take a run down to Rye with video camera.
Are there any spectator boats planned?

This is a terrific event, perhaps my favorite as a RC volunteer all season. The competition is brilliant as is the weather-mark drama (weather dependent). To my knowledge, there are no spectator boats.
Thanks MB - nice to hear that RC enjoys it too.
And I can confirm that there will be no spectator boats - although people with boats are invited to spectate!
Saturday we'll have a journalist from Sailing World at the Club and on the course. That will be some nice coverage too.
And way to go Vipers ... THIRTY ONE! If you snag another 5 you'll meet your best attendance record yet, set in 2010. (hint hint)
The two VX One had to withdraw - I don't know for certain, but I believe the coincidence of our regatta with the Annapolis Boat show had something to do with it. Maybe next year.
Last year it was the Weta's, this year I'm looking forward to seeing what a Hobie Tri-Foiler and an Asymmetric Canoe look like. Can't imagine a Canoe with a kite!
Always something new and exciting

Rondar is exhibiting the Viper at Annapolis but neither the VX nor Bennett are listed as exhibitors at the Annapolis Boat Show.
HPDO has become the showcase regatta for performance boats in the North East. (SAnarchy was early to pick up on this but good to see Sailing World catching up.) I suspect that with the one two punch of the Viper and the J70, the VX just isnt getting any traction in the North East. Shame because it would have been a good spot to see three similar boats in action.

Pround and GENEROUS hosts.
In the meantime, I have one special request. HPDO has always been about the camraderie between high performance sailors and between high performance classes. We come to HPDO to ooooh and aaaaah over opbs and drink beers with folks who are addicted to speed in different ways,. So please, if you want to start a shit fight between VX and Vipers etc, take it to another thread. If Jim Myers can make it down to Rye with your VX , you will get the warmest welcome from all the Vipers and I'm sure all the other classes as well. We'd love to see you.
Cheers VMK

There should be something on the Front Page today. I have it on good authority that there is a Front Page and that sometimes it even reports quality stuff.

Is that the right link for this so called FrontPage website?
I tried the link and ended up at a page advertizing Crate and Barrell furniture, Las Vegas conferences and Russian wives, with a link to the semi- manical ravings of an Australian photographer.
I think I'd rather stay here.
