Need a winter project

1. Build a small boat
2. Buy an older boat that needs work
3. Buying a muscle car or older pickup and fixing that
I thought it would be easy to find an older boat/car on Craigslist but can't find the right one. I don't know what the 'right one' is. It just has to be sexy/classic, good lines and lots of potential with a lot work. I'm handy enough and wiling to try new things and make mistakes.
Know of anything in the Annapolis area that fits this?
What kind of project would you guys do with the right amount of time?

I need a project for the winter while I won't be sailing every weekend. Need something to take my mind off work and relax. I was thinking:

2. Buy an older boat that needs work
3. Buying a muscle car or older pickup and fixing that

I really like the PT skiff and the new PT11 nesting/sailing dinghy. Super cool kit good performers that look good. Google PTskiff or PTboats - they are located in Washington state and were involved in the building of the Dogzilla back in the day and probably still involved with Oracle Racing on the new boats. They laser cut the kit out of some really nice looking ply easy stitch and glue type build process with lots of potential for a really good looking boat! I want one!! HA HA
I'm working on my Fatherinlaw to do a project and a PT boat might be the ticket. Need something to keep him busy.

I'm going to be in Seattle in a few weeks. But I don't think I can check an Ericson 27 on Delta Air.
Any details on the Catalina 27...

Great ideas. I was thinking about going to a few local yards this weekend. And that PT skiff looks cool.

I spoke with a fella who took the PT skiff for a spin. He was really impressed very cool ride. 600lbs built - would look great behind my car LOL

Mine is just up the road in the greater Towson area and there's the another down in the Roads that is a teeny bit behind mine in progress...unfortunately, mine is upside down now as I am finishing up the bottom and topsides getting ready for paint. I have to warn you though, it's a big project...5.5 meters doesn't sound like a lot but it's haul when you factor in day jobs and the other little obligations in life, not to mention racing often.

Cat 27 belongs to a friend of mine who can't use it anymore. He is trying to get rid of it so he doesn't have to pay the yard fees anymore. Boat is in decent shape but needs a lot of cosmetic work and the engine needs a total rebuild I think. Located on the eastern shore about 40 minutes from Annapolis.Great ideas. Come to the PNW, I've got a Ericson 27 that needs to go away.
How badly does it need to be gone? as in $ ...I just bought a Moore 24, but I may know someone interested.

Has anyone built one of these? Any suggestions on which model I should make? Any classes in the Annapolis area to race against? Any advice is appreciated.

I figured out what I want to do. I'm going to build a little remote control sailboat to play with.

Great idea. One Design One Meter class is probably the one to build (don't do the CR 914 kit routine - I think you'd enjoy the ODOM more)I figured out what I want to do. I'm going to build a little remote control sailboat to play with.

I could use help with a remodel on a 100 year old house kitchen, add a bath, windows and doors... or http://www.oneoceankayaks.com/I need a project for the winter while I won't be sailing every weekend. Need something to take my mind off work and relax. I was thinking:

and a clip...gotta love 6.6 litres?
Great car! My college roommate had a 1975 Trans Am. What a hoot to drive. It felt like you were riding a rocket engine when you put your foot on the accelerator. Not so great in ice or snow. (LOL)

What's the difference between the ODOM and the IOM?
An IOM is a box rule for hull and appendages.
ODOM - One Design One Meter. Hull and appendages are identical.

Yeah, one has to put the T Tops on when cruising in winter

Build an RC Open/IMOCA 60. If you need plans I can hook you up with someone who's done one very impressive example.
I'd personally go for the SUP I think. Currently drawing up some lines, should be fun to do. If anyone would be interested, shoot me a PM and I'll keep you up to date about the lines etc.

Large Thomas has my curiousity piqued about building an SUP but I already started my own R/C sailboat for a Winter Project. I decided to build a 1:12 scale AC45. I plan on shaping the foam for the hulls over the next couple of days and I just picked up a sheet of 1/8" foam core to use as the frames for the wing sail.
