LR crew are still onsite, met three of the Kiwi boat builders at the WIYC last Saturday night. Hope they continue and push it further.

Luna Rossa finally received trophies for victory in the ACWS after the scandal Oracle AC45. Paul Cayard fired from Artemis, the first moves Sail-Market
America's Cup , Multihull , Sailing | Tognozzi | September 14, 2013 12:10 am

San Francisco, USA-The endless list of teasing that Oracle and his entourage in AC Event Authority have traded in recent months with Luna Rossa Challenge ended this morning with the ceremony of re-delivery of prizes and trophies of the AC World Series following the scandal of the rigged AC45. After many entreaties by Luna Rossa, the new results were posted on the official website and was eventually organized an informal ceremony in the lounge Louis Vuitton, which was attended by the winners after recalculation of the charts following the suspensions of AC45 Oracle Team USA and Bean Ainslie Racing, or Luna Rossa Piranha, Artemis Racing (present with Nathan Outteridge and Iain Percy, new head of the team after the dismissal of Paul Cayard) and Energy Team (present with Loick and Bruno Peyron ). The ceremony was hidden most of you could not, but the question is certainly worth a news, given the unprecedented case of a team discovered a "cheat" and sentenced by the International Jury of the Cup.

A Luna Rossa Piranha, with a good part of this team again in San Francisco led by skipper Max Sirena and helmsman Chris Draper, was delivered by Stephen Barclay and Iain Murray also the trophy for overall victory in the circuit ACWS 2012-2013, as well the 1st prize in the trial of Newport 2012 (Match Race) and the 1st prize in the trial of San Francisco in August, 2012 (Fleet Race).

From the base at Pier 80 Oracle Racing arrive rumor of the defender committed in recent attempts to make changes to the boat in view of tomorrow's race 8:09 (live stream on farevelanet starting at 22).

Talk to Max Sirena

Then we took the opportunity for a thorough interview with Max Sirena on the future of the Cup and the team Luna Rossa. The skipper of Luna Rossa told us how, in case of victory of ETNZL, Luna Rossa and the Kiwis will take the time needed to redigire the new Protocol, "trying to meet the needs of the team potential, provided that the Cup should remain a goal reserved for the best teams up with budget and that continued expression of the highest technological level of sailing. " So monohulls, "definitely planing, in Frado to do 30 knots downwind and 15/16 upwind, back certainly did not come back," or multihulls, "but not the AC72 too complex logistically," at the moment are to fifty percent. To study the rules of nationality and to budget limitations, although "One Cup at the end of its very essence it costs a lot." The hope for the next campaign in Auckland? "Winning the America's Cup to allow Patrick bertelli to organize something never seen in Italy," said Max Sirena.

The full interview video will be available in the next few days.

The future of the Cup As for the now-open sailing market, comes the dismissal of Paul Cayard of Artemis Racing. The two-time Olympic gold medalist Iain Percy English assumes the role of Team Manager, as confirmed by the owner Torbjorn Tornqvist. For the team secure the next America's Cup, unless unexpected surprises will then be in New Zealand, so we already Emirates Team New Zealand (probable defender), Luna Rossa Challenge, Artemis Racing, the likely return of Alinghi (in recent days we have seen Brad Butterworth and other emissaries of Ernesto Bertarelli here in San Francisco), the interest of the owner of Ran Skype Niklas Zennstrom, the Russian team of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club which was already a candidate for a role of challenger in recent months. Already a good starting point, which will add the attempts of the Peyron brothers, Loick very active these days here in SF, Ben Ainslie for his much desired challenge English, of hypothetical team from the Persian Gulf and the Chinese. From Oracle Racing, however, does not come at different news from the disengagement of Larry Ellison.

A cup, then, that after what now seems a painful but necessary interlude (the oracliano), can share with nuobe ambitions and huge potential, because if there's one thing you notice here in San Francisco, in these days of passion the final, is that really This is the America's Cup ... this is still the Cup, the highest there is.

From the most recent interviews to Patrizio Bertelli it seems certain that there will be a fifth Luna Rossa and the next challenge will be to win.
The decision was taken well before the recent AC final and Bertelli was very clear that LR partecipation was not depending on ETNZ winning the Cup, the type of boat, or LR being the COR.
Hope this is true. I'll keep you informed of any news from the Italian media.

Luna Rossa already experimenting for AC35: SAS - Speed Augmentation System.

Here the first pic:

It's a high tech miniaturized device, and it is manually operated in order to be perfectly legal :-)
