...the day you buy her, and the day you sell her. But there's a very rare third day as well, and not quite as common. And that's when you buy back said 'sold' boat a second time......

Did you make them throw in the bike before you were willing to part with the dollar?

Actually there's one small, eensy-bitsy issue with the boat-----I need to de-squat a loser squatter who breached his contract and has been living aboard her for a few months now. So though the bike is not mine, the handle bars may come in quite handy come next Thursday evening, when I informed him that the party's over and it's time for him to gtfo.

Should be a rather entertaining week.....

I think the right financial move would be to trade boat for bike at this point.

If it's so easy, why didn't the last owner do it?

If it's so easy, why didn't the last owner do it?

1). He pulled out the Atomic Bomb and went to all electric propulsion after he bought her from us.

2). Sailed the hell out of her locally until the movie/documentary biz piped up. He's out of the country 3-6 months a year now. After getting married to a chick that hates boats---and having a couple of kids.

3). So he leased her out for a couple of years to help with the bills. Worked out great....'til they moved off.

4). Boat became an anchor for him, and he couldn't enjoy her. Then the batteries and electric motor got flooded out. Zzzzzzt-zzaaappp.

5). So he found this lying loser con man to pay some back slip fees and he could have the boat. Has a signed contract with the prick----but he never made a single payment to the marina, or the owner.

6). So he called me yesterday, told me he just wanted out, asked my advice...... and I ended up buying her.

7). Thursday oughta be a lot of fun...... :D

5).

Showed the pics to swmbo... so far so good, what does the Nurse think? My 6horse 4stroke longshaft should handle propulsion duties as long as it isn't rough out this weekend, that mount looks kinda small for more motor than that.

Who's on the hook for the back marina fees? Does that financial liability transfer with the boat?

We pulled into a marina in the panhandle and didn't notice until tying up that the boat next to us had a nice, new extra piling driven right in front of it. It was not leaving until the slip fees were paid.

you could get a flatbed trailer, bolt some boat stands on it and pull this baby around the trailer park with that Scout. I'm assuming you own a pair of overalls.

As for the original title and post.....there was always something I missed about every boat I sold....with the exception of one.

That was a CT 41...everyone I've ever met who's ever had one, knows exactly why.

I've never had one....but I share your pain. Weirdest interiors I've ever seen, and has all the uphill sailing capacity of a f'ng phone booth....

The "exactly why" isn't because they're slow, and they are indeed slugs....but the build quality....we lived aboard and bought it cause it had more room then the Columbia 38 we had previously.... the price was low in an estate sale...sold it less then a year later, pocketing 10k more then we paid for it.

Though we did take it on one cruise, for my everyday sailing we also had a Tbird and an OK Dinghy at the time....still have the OK Dinghy.

Congrats!

FWIW.. I have bought and sold three boats before my current boat..
I was never happy selling any of them.
