Interesting to watch and see how this turns out. Sailboat came in close to shore with lights off and proceeds to remove mast and scuttle the boat. Crew is missing but reported not to be on the boat at the time of sinking.

In other news; area dealers are predicting a white christmas.

Didn't something like this happen around this same time last year, also off the coast of Nova Scotia?

OK, I am thinking of this incident in March, that apparently involved human smuggling.... http://forums.sailin...howtopic=133281

Read "In Search of Captain Zero". There are some great stories in there about events such as this scuttling.

I LOLed out loud, anyway!

Removed the mast on a 12m sailboat while anchored? Interesting...probably wanted to retrieve their lucky silver dollar from the step before scuttling. Or something else.

Kinda clever.

Its now being called a 10m sailboat so we can rule out Intrepid, Weatherly, Easterner,
Kookaburra III, etc

unsung benefits of weight aloft

Mathkids: how many kg you could fit in a 40 footer's mast if you ran all halyards externally and pulled all the other bits out?

Maybe it was a J105, confused to be a J120 at the time of the sinking
