Bwahahaha. Good one.

Gonna be just like the last opener I saw Bama and Tech play a couple years ago, ending in tears for Tech.

I told my brother I hope the Redskins get him, since it would be for the minimum, and he is basically a slightly faster less shifty Percy Harvin with superior woman beating skills. At the very least he could keep all the other players bitches in order for us.

Percy harvin has way faster football speed. I saw Rainey get caught on longer runs that never happens to Percy

Looks like it's coming down to bama vs gators for the top class. Gators are looking more and more like Bama and I expect to see them in Atlanta in December. What kills me is the RB class. We signed two stud recruits, Bama signed 5...

It really is amazing. I know all those guys think they're the best and thus need not worry about competing for playing time, but damn! They'll have 5 star prospects in the scout team backfield. It's reminiscent of the old days when the big teams could give scholarships to boys they knew would never play just to keep them from going elsewhere.

I think the most interesting recruiting development I've seen in a while is Vandy Baseball. From what I can glean from the alumni mailings (addressed to Mrs. Razorback, certainly not me) and the recruiting results, they've got a big endowment that allows them to offer basically full rides (and that ain't a cheap ride!) to most of their team through a combination of athletic, academic, and need based assistance. Most other baseball programs are splitting up I think 11 scholarships between everybody, and a full ride at Vandy is so valuable that they are actually keeping a lot of MLB draftees that the public schools lose. I'm not complaining, as they are our secondary team. But you gotta admit that using academic superiority to assemble a top-level SEC athletic team is novel!

That's very astute, and you're right, the Combine now rules the RB draft.

My once ubiquitous optimism has been replaced by a feeling of dread that a Cubs fan would recognize which consumes me every time I see the words "Arkansas Razorbacks" in a headline.

Hopes are high for the baseball team, however.

Literally the best part of Reuben Foster is he showed up to sign in Nick Saban's outfit. I rank the fugitive dad #2 and the Auburn tattoo #3.

That's a hell of a lot of awesome oddness in one recruit. I think that's what ESPN based Alabama's recruiting class ranking on actually.

I'm gonna delete this topic if there's anymore mention of something as irrelevant as Wake Forest football.

Jim Grobe is good man and coach, he deserves better..

WF would be a lot better if they cheated like Duke and UNC...

The fact that I am even less likely to follow one of your links than I would pay attention to your inane drivel would explain why I had not noticed this...

I missed this the first time around. As a Vandy grad I'm pleased that they are starting to get some decent players who can do math well enough to understand the value of a $250K education. Hell it's even working (a little) on the football team which has risen from dismal to third tier.

That being said, Go Tigers! Yea Sewanee's Right!

Believe me, it's talked about like it was 1999 not 1899 when you are up there. My daughter goes there. I went to Vandy. I absolutely love Sewanee (AKA The University of the South) You have to love the Corinthian Spirit that is alive and well in D3. Hell, Sewanee's not even any good at that level. But you've got to love that those are real scholars that suit up and play football every Saturday. There are probably high schools that have better talent, but you won't find a finer bunch of kids anywhere

BIL and niece both alumni, he worked/lived there for a number of years...drop dead gorgeous country up there on the Cumberland Plateau...am told that the campus' 13,000 acres makes it the biggest campus in the country...am fully aware that 1899's glory seems like it happened just yesterday...

Yikes!! I am shocked, shocked to learn that Vanderbilt's football team has football players on it. Certainly didn't in my day!

(joking aside, this sounds pretty damn serious. I hate to see us becoming like other too many schools in this regard.)
