For those of you watching the ESS here's something to relieve the boredom of watching them play follow my leader around the bay in Oman. Make sure you stock up on booze before you start.

Hadn't heard of this before, so I headed to the website and checked out the front-page video.

They have to grimace every time they have to use the word "Extreme" in this race. I know you can't control the wind, but... Ouch. S l o w

I just watched the youtube replay of the final two races - if I followed your rules I'd be legless. Extreme drunkeness if not extreme sailing.

I love the line when Lee McMillan (scull more beer) crosses the line and he says "Muscat is about to Erupt!" - yeah I'm sure it's going off. When they pan to the beach they'd be about 100 people there - 100 erupting people.

I watched the YouTube video and actually liked the sailing. It's not all 20 kts and flying around the course. Some days the breeze is light and you have to know how to sail in that, too. Guys on the front of the hulls to distribute weight, slow careful movements, shadowing becomes important, reading the water and chasing the breeze. All very good important stuff. Red Bull missed the mark and had to make an extra tack - death in those conditions. I thought there was some very good sailing going on, but it was subtle - which does not make for good TV.
