My personal take is that "I WANT TO WATCH ALL THE RACING"

If some Co. wants to Buy the rights to Broadcast the LV-AC Racing

the Rights to Broadcast All the events should be Limited to Events to be Broadcast

By That I mean

If You Do Not intend to Broadcast early Racing = Someone else can w/o compensation

No BS about Buying Broadcast rights to the Whole Event

and then Blacking it Out till You want to show the part you want to show

If the winning bidder has No Intentions to show Early LV-CUP Action

It Should be "Open Season" for anyone else who wants to show it

AND WHY THE FACK NOT

???????????????

You would think that, if anything, allowing others to broadcast the preliminary action would almost be like free advertising for the main broadcaster.  I see no way that letting others show early rounds would do anything but help NBC's viewer numbers by getting more people hooked on the action.

The trouble is that the film, television and music companies are trying to desperately to hold onto their old, outdated, busines models.

They think they can still dictate when people get to watch/hear their stuff.

Generally, people don't mind paying for their content either via subscription or advertisements, but what really pisses them off is when you restrict or delay their access to content based on something as frivolous as location.

So, people find an alternative method (normally free) that not only overcomes the restrictions, but does so by completely cutting off the company's revenue stream.

So, don't panic. It will turn up on the web somewhere.

The greed and stupidity of the broadcasters will ensure this.

What are the best web proxies out there?

Will these be "overloaded" if everyone uses them?

I use this site. I don't pay. I think all of these free proxies get overloaded and then I switch to another one. I don't think the AC will have any effect on the proxies though. I have never used a paid  proxy, but from what I have heard it is the way to go if you don't want to fuck around with the free ones. Up until now the free ones have served my needs.

As far as the blackouts, I only remember '92 having the round robins. All the cups before and after that I saw just had a weekly program for the RRs and then full coverage starting with the LVC semis. Having said that I want to see at least the early RR races to get a feel for it.

I live in a town where:

what is called our Baseball team is only shown on Pay TV = Fuck Em

what is called our (SUCKING) Football team is Blackedout for home games = Fuck Em

I can't see why so much $$$ is payed to NOT show something

and the extream steps taken to prevent people from watching = Fuck Em

I Fear the same shall happen for this LV / AC

I'm NOT someone to sit back and pout

we had a 90' Monster ripping about with no coverage

I got up off my Arse and the result was FOX-5 DAGO covered DoGZilla's Wing from Day 1

I'm not seeing plans for coverage of ALL Of the LV Races

there might still be time to do something about it

I started this thread to get the Ball Rolling

What will you do ????????

If there is one thing we have learned this week

it is that the equipment is not up to the task

I'm NOT talking about boats here

I'm Talking about Media Infrastructure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once word of this week's crash started to get out everything Locked Up (best I could tell)

SA Forums could Not keep Up so No logging in to Post or Read

Sites hosting Live Coverage could Not Keep Up and Streaming Crashed

Other sites went WAAAAAAAAAAY Over intended Bandwidth and were taken down (ERROR 505)

Media that wanted to cash in and run stories, Could Not get proper Info (if they were trying)

So What Now, When the Racing Gets Going GOOD - Will we get to see Anything ??

or will it be an endless wait for the streaming to catch

& Forum #'s fall to where it all works again ??

Our MEDIA System Failed to Handel the Onslaught of Inquiring Minds !!

Yeah Good point Woody. It was so slow it was useless. The AC sites stayed up OK, but the trouble was no one was saying anything there. Probably too busy with more important things, but they could have left someone at the desk making stuff up!

Thanks for posting on this Woody.  For me, SA was practically unaccessible for nearly four hours after the news broke.

I started a new thread on the Sailing Anarchy page and addressed it to management. Title: Vital SA Server Upgrade Overdue  It has only attracted a few responses.

I can't believe I was alone in being shut out. Guys, please find the thread and add your experiences.
