just to let you know, there's a specific crew finder part of the 2013 worlds site: http://www.hyc.ie/cr...lds/default.asp

At the moment a bit under-used but as the event approaches I'm sure it'll get more traffic

The Irish J24 champs were held in the same venue (Howth Yacht Club - www.hyc.ie) this weekend. The overall winner was Il RIccio from the Royal Corinthian YC, and the Irish National Champions are the Howth under-25 team, Euro Car Parks Kilcullen.

Does anyone know if the scrutineers/measureres are bringing their metal detectors to look for lead in the keel sumps?

Also, are any of the visiting boats up for sale?

Have some Oracle shore crew been working on the boats?

They're going to re-sail race 3 tomorrow which is bad for a couple front runners that got a black flag, including Whitmore, Parker and Southworth.

More likely tomorrow... Forecast dire for today again, but wind due again on thursday and Friday. Hopefully some wind appears magically!

Is the wind normally this bad? If so, then why hold a World championship with the potential of no races getting run?

We sailed the Worlds there in '90 (actually Dun Laurghrie (sp?), just south) and there was only one day under 12 knots, two days blowing the dogs off.

No, this lack of wind is really unfortunate and not very common at all. It's literally just a few miles from where spindrift capsized. Normally very good wind. If it's from the east there can be a massive swell as well.

In fact, the one thing it's not normal to have to worry about is no wind

Had a look at the webcam on a local weather station (www.islandbawn.com) today and saw them out racing in what the station was reporting as 9 knots. Just took another look there and 9 kts reported and can see the fleet still out behind the island.

That windward mark rounding isn't quite as 'exciting' as the ones in Rochester last year....
