What a bunch of clowns. First, drag the damn thing upside down. Then flip it with considerable effort and more damage. But the part I loved the best is literally tossing the mines on to each other with the whole pile of ammo sitting there. Not exactly what I would call an archeology team...

Looks like a WWII T-34.

nor an UDT

In DAGO there are areas with & around houses where a rain can uncover un-exploded ordnance  (I know what's rain)

kids find the stuff and throw it around or bring it home - some BLOW the FUCK-UP

Sweeps are done again

can't believe the Vid's of treasure hunters in "X" War Zone's digging up metal objects just under the surface  :o

BUT The Most Stupid thing I ever saw is the tossing atop another of the FACKING Landmines  :o

Darwin called in sick that day  ;)

T-34?

No - a Valentine apparently (Brit made)

T-34 has a more sloped turret that's mounted further forward.

I think the round items are machine gun magazines but still wouldn't recommend chucking them on a stack.

+1, Mags.

But they did show some grenades in sawdust or straw it looked like.  Now wouldn't want to poke them too hard.

Sorry, but those are 62 series mines with the arming keys still attached. The igniters are dead for sure after being underwater for 70 years, but the TNT might conceivably still be explosive.  However, it's not like they would be any more dangerous to handle than when they were brand new.

Huh?? No mark those are ppsh 43 drums. The cross piece you see in the middle is the wind up key for the spring. Why would a tank be carrying mine? Those drums were for the mounted troops which were part of the assault doctrine.

Why would a tank be carrying mine?

Might be because the Soviets in WW2 weren't all that mechanized, they tended to have to walk everywhere, and the supply trucks were few, precious, and kept as far back as practicable. That's not a battle tank, it's a light infantry tank, either they carried them or the foot soldiers have to.

My question is...how the hell do they find these tanks?  I mean, who is digging around in the mud on the bottom of these ponds and says "Hey, I just found a tank!"

Kinda like when we were growing up.  Although all I got from my time mucking around in a pond was leeches.  If I had known there were tanks in there, I would have dug around a bit more.

Oh c'mon, you didn't imagine crap like that? We had lakes with Islands and a copper/iron mine on the island. If our parents ever knew what we were really doing they would have never let us out. We used to go out on long hikes to places shut down many, many years ago. Ninham Mountain had abandoned stone houses/huts that we referred to as the ghost towns. Picture a pack of kids roaming the countryside where I grew up with those kinds of places.

Besides, we have not had a major land war since The Revolution so not to many tanks laying around. When you live in a country that has had the shit bombed out of it you are more likely to find this stuff.
